Oakley Lens Peeling?!

is it a common issue world wide? I got 2 pairs, 1 from USA, 1 from Asia. Both peel in less than a yr. Got the lens replaced, peel again after another yr.

What are you using to clean them?

Warm water and a fibre cloth is enough.

If you use any type of alcohol it is known to peel and ruin glasses/screens/monitors etc.

You need to clean them immediately after you are done…if you let that thing dry up it will peal the lense.

Sweat is very corrosive… So even if cleaning after a ride you might have peeling

It didnt used to be common. Every pair Ive had for a while has done it. I got sick of it and switched to Roka

Oakley sold out to Luxottica a while back. Thats when the quality really dropped. A lot of the old Oakley employees now work at Roka

I have used Oakley sunglasses since late 1980’s/early 1990’s and have never had any issues with any of them.

As already mentioned, lens issues are most likely caused by using strong detergents to clean them.

I have managed to destroy one pair of Oakley sunglasses, but I cannot blame any quality issues: I ran over them with my car.

That sounds weird. I have never ever cleaned my glasses after a ride, if anything I clean them before I go out…

Never had any peel…

Some people have more corrosive sweat than other…

I can’t use metal watches… My sweat eats the back metal… Only whatever is SS survives… So i only have plastic or SS watches…

So,.i have similar issues with sun glasses… All my running/cycling sunglasses lenses are pealed… :man_shrugging:
