Has anyone ever tried a v-seat on the trainer? I am a trainer rat most of the year and have always had saddle sore issues. I’ve tried everything. This past winter I developed one that split open. Rather than take time off to let it heal I ended up using surgical glue to close it. It actually worked but while it was healing I favored that side and put most of the saddle pressure on the opposite side. I ended up developing a lump or nodule. The doc wanted me to take time off to let it heal. I saw this saddle on a facebook ad and figured what the heck. I have a few rides on it and it puts zero pressure on the perineal area. You sit squarely on your sit bones. It takes a few rides to get used to it, you have to tilt it forward a bit so your thighs don’t hit the saddle when you pedal. It uses a bit more of your quad muscles than a normal saddle and you also get a bit of a core workout staying balanced on it. If you have sore issues and want to let them heal and keep training you might want to give it a shot.
Might be the oddest looking seat I’ve ever seen.
I’ve never had a saddle sore so I don’t know anything about them (have had plenty of other issues though, so not a brag lol).
What are the sorest typically from and how are they best prevented? Obviously cycling, but is it typically only for much longer rides (5+ hrs), or do people get them for rides of a couple hrs as well?
I can get them. It’s usually seasonal. Road bike to mtn bike and the opposite. Different saddles put pressure on different parts. Mine are in the same spot each time. They are pockets of fluid that feel like a lump. Usually gone in a week or 2. They are not so painful as to cause me to be off the bike.
IDK. There have been many different saddles like that in years past. There was (is?) one like that that is split down the middle and the left and right half free to pivot fore/aft. There’s also one that’s sort of crescent shaped. I just googled it and found the website.

I’ve had nodules develop during trainer season, one so bad that I had to have it removed a few years ago.
If that saddle lets you keep riding and remove the issue of perineal discomfort, ride on!
Have you tried motion? I have both InsideRide e-motion rollers and and e-flex for my kickr and they are standard equipment for me now. The rollers actually result in the least amount of saddle chaffing.
I finally tried an SMP saddle and that has helped.
My first line of defense has been Assos short after trying so many others.
I forgot chamois cream. Currently using Noxema.
Yes, I have tried rocker plates and it helped. My old Kurt Rock n Roll was the best. But now Im on an H3 and really dont want to pay for the Saris rocker, might have to consider building my own. Right now I have the H3 legs sitting on 3/4" foam that gives it some side motion. I have a plethora of saddle creams…none seem to help with the perineal pressure problem, just chaffing.
I’ve had my own issues with saddle discomfort, so it’s great to hear about something that really helps.
TLDR: Make sure your trainer setup is level left/right.
I tend to get saddle sores when I’m not centered on the saddle (left or right). I have a DIY rocker plate, so I really need to pay attention to how the ‘springs’ wear and rotate / replace them as needed. I neglected to do this a while back and developed a muscular imbalance that f’ed up a lot of things. I’m also pretty sure that my floor isn’t level, so I also need to adjust for that.
~90 minutes a day for weeks, and I developed saddle sores. I was doing the Zwift Academy/whatever, and was so focused on getting it done. Had just switched to Specialized Avatar saddles, and they felt great in the beginning, yadda yadda, singing a common song here. Eventually I had to adjust my position, and after doing that for a week, took time off to heal. The sores were surprisingly sore. Just sitting in a formed chair, or driving was painful. Avoiding that in the future took prime importance. Swapped saddles right away and haven’t gotten that bad at all since. The weird part was I had moderate pain, until I didn’t. As if it went to 11 overnight. Keeping the area clean and dry was so helpful, and swapping saddles. At one point I had so many ‘old’ saddles that I took the box to a local recycle a bike group. There were more than 25 in the box collected over the years. I didn’t realize I had a ‘saddle problem’ until I looked at that box sitting in the back of the car. WOW…
