Opinions on MyVeloFit

Has anyone had good experiences with MyVeloFit?

Ive changed Trainer in the past week (Tacx Neobike Smart > Zwift Ride w/ Kickr Core, some downgrade right? lol) and whilst im enjoying-ish the hardware so far, I have got one issue that worries me.

Ive set my geometry as per a bike fit sheet from my roadbike but it wasnt possible to achieve every measurement exactly so Ive set it as close as I can get.

Spent 3 hours in 2 sessions so all workable, but my right knee feels odd. Hard to describe it, as if its not straight when going through rotations & almost certainly related, aching & tightness in my right calf.

In the past 8 years of riding on trainers, ive never had aching calves after a ride. Hams, Quads & Glutes yes but never calves.

I could go and get a bike fit done as its been a few year since my last one but that will obviously be on my road bike and not neccesarily transferable to the Zwift ride frame as ive found above. Plus it will take time to arrange and book in risking missed training or injury through persistence.

Bringing me back to the opening question, has anyone had experience with MyVeloFit and did they find it offered a decent fit ?

Being able to use it for setting up my outdoor bikes & indoor whilst being half the price (The annual pass) of a traditional 2hr bike fit is obviously very tempting, but only worth while if it works.

Cheers

Bizzare

I normally start writing a new topic then it suggests alternative threads that may cover the same topic & it generates a reading list for me. Oddly, it didnt mention that one lol.

I’ll give that a read, thanks.

I don’t have any experience with MyVeloFit. But I would like to help you with your fit.

  1. Is your crank length the same? with shorter cranks, your saddle needs to be higher and vice versa.
  2. Have you measured the saddle setback and saddle tilt?
  3. A different saddle = a different fit. The saddle on the Zwift Ride has a 160 mm width, wich is very wide in my opinion.
  4. The Zwift Ride has a Q-factor of 150 mm, whilst the Tacx has a Q-factor of 147 mm. This may impact your cleat position.
  5. Would it be possible to invite a real bike fitter to your home?

Thanks for your response.

Answering your questions best I can:

  • Crank length on the Tacx was set to 170mm (bearclaw) matches the Zwift Rides 170mm
  • Saddle tilt on my Tacx & road bike was set to 2-3deg downwards, this has been achieved & feels fine. Not sliding forward whilst pedaling or feeling pressure under the front.
  • Saddle setback has no known value on my bike fit chart so I’ll have to measure it against my Road bike. I cant measure the Tacx as it is no longer here.
  • I kept the Saddle from the Tacx that ive used for 3 years without discomfort and replaced the Zwift saddle.
  • Q-Factor could be an issue and I think the slightly wider feeling is potentially whats causing my knee to feel odd (not quite aching but not quite comfortable)

I could ask a fitter to visit I guess, most of these services are small companies or individuals so a passing by setup might be an option.

2-3 years ago I got a Frame Finder bike fit on one of those stationary setups (I can’t remember which one, specifically). I used it to size a direct-to-consumer bike purchase. I then used VeloFit to dial in my position - it was within a couple of mm’s of the Frame Finder fit and worked very well for me. I also used it when setting up a gravel bike that is probably my most comfortable bike to ride. Overall I think it is money well spent to setup one or more bikes.

For me it failed to see my L/R asymmetry which a bike fitter did see although my one side was positioned correctly…

I did a Retul fit back in 2018. I hadn’t done another bike fit since then until I decided this past summer that I was due. I decided to go with MyVeloFit. It’s was odd how similar the numbers were to my Retul fit. There were some very minor changes (notably a slightly lower saddle height).

I can’t complain with the results. Especially considering I fit both my road and gravel bike for a fraction of the cost of Retul.

Thanks for your comments

Im tempted to give it a go, although slightly concerned as I have 3mm of cleat spacers on one side only due to LLD spotted from a previous fitter years back. I presume my legs have not altered in length and that is still correct :joy:

I have only tried a kinda rushed fit, and gave up as it just kept upping and upping my saddle. I’ll caveat that I do plan to try again, but this time being very precise on the camera being in the exact same spot. I couldn’t have been fair off each time, but giving the software the benefit of the doubt!

It has worked for me and I’ve used it to dial in my four bikes. As for having leg length discrepancies, I think you can add videos from both sides of the bike and compare the recommendations.

Ive got a tripod and camera to use with this so fingers crossed, it will get to a good offering quickly.

Ah yeah, I accept I wasn’t as careful with placing the camera in the exact same spot. But still the changes didn’t make sense when I looked at the graphs/ charts.

I’m going to use a webcam rather than phone on tripod the next time.

I used it to setup my new bike. I recorded a video on my old bike and it turns out quite a few things were wrong (according to MyVeloFit). They have really nice help for everything explaining why x needs to be in a given range and what happens if it isn’t.

Instead of trying to replicate my old setup on the new bike with very different geometry, I just road around and fiddled until it felt good. Then I used MyVeloFit to check the setup and everything was good first try. My new setup is much more aggressive (higher saddle, lower bars) but I have no back issues and knees are much better (more open angle).

So 5 star review from me.

Also I have had several professional bike setups in the past by people recommended to me and now I know they were all rubbish.
