Track Season just ended so it’s the time of year that I always put events in my calendar for the next 12 months and plan my training. In the past I was able to shift training days by block. that feature seems to have disappeared. Haven’t caught the pod in a while so i don’t know if they already explained this. Was I the only person utilizing this ability? The Tue/Thu/Sat schedule doesn’t work for me. I the fall I have CX race on Sunday so I shift my days to Sun/Tue/Thu. Track races on Fridays so I shift the plan to Mon/Wed/Fri. In the winter I like the Tue/Thu/Sat standard. If I can’t make these changes by block then I have to make separate plans for each phase of the year. It was nice to put the whole year of events in, then slide the days around in the plan builder. Did this feature move and I’m just not seeing it?
Pretty sure once the plan is on your calendar you can select blocks separately and adjust workout days and lengths from there. For example, I changed just my specialty block to a masters version but the others were normal.
I’ll try that
Thanks, that worked, kind of. Still not as good as being able to set it in the plan builder screen though. When it puts the workouts in the calendar it takes out workouts that overlap with events. When I adjust blocks so those workouts can happen on a free day, those workouts don’t come back so then I have to add them back in manually. I might be in a small minority of users who really need this feature though
Interesting. Try starting with only your last event. Do plan builder. Adjust blocks in calendar. Add remaining events and let plan builder adjust. Might work.
Yeah I think I’ll do that in the future. I have a LOT of regular events so I couldn’t bear the thought of deleting them all, redoing the plan, then adding them back in. I think this is where my needs are a bit unique. The system is designed mostly for people building up to one big event with a couple warm ups to it. I’m training for good performance over a whole season with events every week that replace my workouts. Like from October through March I do a Zwift race every Tuesday that some local guys organize. The races are more intense than my workouts so I know it helps my fitness, but TR isn’t really intending me to replace 20 Tuesday workouts over 6 months.
Hey there,
You should be able to set the days you prefer to train on in the Plan Builder setup menu – it should look like this:
You can then drag and drop the workouts onto the day you’d prefer to do them on.
Once your plan is applied to your TR Calendar, you can edit your preferences by clicking on a training phase annotation:
That will trigger this menu to appear:
You can then drag and drop the workouts onto your preferred training days. Once you click on “Update,” your changes will be applied.
Workouts being removed on days you have events entered is “normal” behavior – the plan assumes you’re training/riding 3 days per week, so if an event falls on the same day as a scheduled workout, the workout gets removed so you maintain 3 sessions per week.
We’d recommend keeping your intensity days capped at 3 sessions per week in any case – pushing beyond that can cause unproductive/excessive training stress and fatigue. If you happen to have a free day where you can fit in an extra workout, we’d recommend keeping it at Recovery or Endurance intensity so you don’t overdo things.
Hope this helps – feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions!
So I basically did that, but I have so many events, and I want my workouts on different days for different seasons, so it was pretty labor intensive and the workouts that were missing because they would have been on an event day, didn’t repopulate when I adjusted the blocks.
In the fall I race CX every other weekend, usually Sundays, so I want my intensity days to be Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday and then long ride Friday. Then I go back to Tue/Thu/Sat for the winter and spring. But then in the summer I have track races every Friday so I switch to a Mon/Wed/Fri schedule. Because Friday is my long endurance day right now, it didn’t put those workouts in the calendar next summer, and didn’t add them back when I adjusted that block.
It’s not a huge deal. I just really preferred the previous system that allowed me to customize blocks before putting them in the calendar. It was a lot faster than this method.
You do realize that you can change the default days for each phase, right? Base can be Tues-Thur-Fri, Build 1 can be Mon-Wed-Thur and Build 2 Tues-Thur-Sat, etc.
yes, but not in the plan builder anymore. it has to be done once the plan is on the calendar and that’s much slower
I’m no longer seeing the Trg Phase or Volume drop down menus when I click on the start of phase annotation (Win10 web, beta and non-beta calendar & Win10 app, Android app). How do I now change these?
