Plan builder has planned a hard ride 2 days out from a race?

Hi all, I’m still pretty new here so sorry if this is a silly question.

I’m doing the low volume sprint triathlon plan and have 3 triathlons coming up, each spaced 3 weeks apart - 11th Feb, 3rd March and 24th March.

I understand that the progression on TR is meant to see your workout levels gradually increase while having an easier week every 4th week or so. But I think Plan Builder is struggling to fit that structure around the 3 weeks I have between races.

Here are some things that seem a bit odd to me. Should I just go ahead with some manual tweaks? I love the idea that “TR knows things you don’t know” and am keen to just trust the tech, but in this case I’m struggling…

  1. The week after the first race is a recovery week (seems reasonable) but the middle week kicks off with Goddard -4 (45 mins Sweet Spot 1.9) which seems quite low.

  2. The next week ends with McGregor -1 (1h30m Sweet Spot 5.4) scheduled for the Friday before a Sunday race. Cajon (openers) is scheduled for the Saturday. This seems like a big step up from the SS 1.9 the previous week, as well as a big session to do so close to a race.

  3. The week after the second race is not a recovery week, it has a VO2 max 3.5 and a Threshold 5.3 in it.

  4. The middle week is then a recovery week, which doesn’t seem like a great time to have one.

The final week before the last race is then a medium week, which seems reasonable, and that’s the end of the plan.

Thanks!

Did you put them in as B races? If so, I don’t think there is any special treatment for those, so you’ll need move things around to what suits you best.

Thanks, that might be it. There was a restriction when setting up the plan where I think A races have to be a minimum of 8 weeks apart, so the first tri is an A race and the other two are B races.

I’ll get replanning then!
