Plan keeps shortening Sunday long ride

Hi,

My plan typically has a 1:30 hour ride on Saturday and a 2:00 ride on Sunday, but lately when I finish my Saturday ride it adapts my Sunday ride to 45 minutes. This seems odd. Is anyone else experiencing this? Why would it do that?

Hi, same here today. My Saturday ride I logged as “Very hard”. Maybe that has a good influence om the plan. Sunday is now showing in yellow (easy or rest). I think that suits me well since Tuesday will be a hard interval sessison, “Baird -1”. I think this reduces fatigue and I will be able to do the next session better.

Do an easier Saturday ride?

Good practise not to stack hard days so you optimise adaptations.

Hey there,

It sounds like this might have to do with Red Light Green Light, our fatigue-management feature.

If you build up too much training stress too quickly, you may see yellow/red days appear on your TR Calendar with suggested adaptations to make your next ride(s) easier (they may even switch to days off for extra rest).

It could be possible that you’re doing a bit too much volume/intensity during the rest of the week, which prompts this suggested change in your plan.

It may be worth easing off a little, especially if you’re feeling fatigued by Sunday. If you feel like you can handle things, though, you could try adjusting your Training Approach slider, which can be found here.

Hope this info helps you out – feel free to let us know if you have any additional questions!

Yeah that makes sense, I just don’t know why the plan would not do that to start with. Why plan a hard Saturday and a long Sunday if a short Sunday makes more sense? I’d get it if I wasn’t completing the Saturday workout, but I’m doing exactly what it says I should do.

Questions do you also have a rest day on Monday?

I guess it’s quite common for working adults to need to compromise, and do hard workouts at the weekend. But if you do have time during the working week, shift it there. If not, see how you handle the hard Sunday ride.

I must admit, I’ve fairly regular hard Saturdays which always makes a red Sunday so I need to choose whether to take Sunday easy or recover both days and Monday.

Yes. Monday is a rest day.

Today (Sunday) it is not shortened. Yesterday’s session I entered as moderate.
