Positioning on the bike - Indoor training included

Hello,

I have maybe an underrated question, or maybe a simple one that noone talks about.
Over the years i see myself quite straight on my bike (in terms of positioning), despite a bike fitting and all that.

The problem i have is, when i’m racing, i have a hard time leaning forward and bending, i’m not aero enough and wasting a lot of energy.

Maybe this is an issue i developped indoor because i’m just working power inside.

Any tips to work on that, indoor should be a good start?

Reckon this question would do well with a side on picture of you riding indoors and outdoors, on the hoods and in the drops.

When I’m doing certain sessions indoors I make sure I’m replicating my outdoor position.
If it’s a long interval at SS or Threshold, get in the drops or wrists on the bars.

Use the indoor training to practice the positions

Check the dimensions of the outdoor bike and trainer. You may have a mismatch in those numbers and it’s helping you to sit up more. But it depends. I’m usually on the hoods, and have to tell myself to use the drops more often, where some are on the tops inside on the hoods outside. shrug My bet would be dimensions…

A picture is worth a thousand words. There’s so many potential issues that a pic is really needed to figure out what’s going on.

I suggest reading a bit in this bike fitting thread and posting there. The Bike Fitting Mega-Thread
