Power meter or TSS on outdoor bike for unplanned rides? with Adaptive training

Hi all, I have seen that HR is not taken into account for ‘free rides’ , only power. So I assume if I can get a power meter for my outdoor bike these unplanned (non training plan) rides can still factor properly into my overall activity? otherwise it might be using estimated TSS?

Hey there,

HR will still impact how Adaptive Training changes your plan if you don’t have a power meter on your outdoor bike. Even rides without HR will still be analyzed based on the duration of the ride and your feedback from Post-Workout Surveys.

A power meter, though, would be the best option. We recommend getting one for your outdoor bike if you can.

Feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions!

Thanks Zackery that’s good to know, pretty sure I saw a support page saying HR not used for adaptive training though, or was it red light green light, not sure, want me to try and find it? Might need an edit

Here’s the page on RLGL if you need it:

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll do some poking around to see if we need to make any edits to our support pages.

Well I just checked the bike and there is only about 5mm clearance behind the crank so I’m glad the HR will be used, I can’t afford a spider meter that’s for sure

Maybe get power meter pedals?

Outside is all mtb for me and I’m a flatty rider so only one option and they’re super pricey and not very thin , never mind, HR feeding adaptions is cool , power would have been super cool though.
