Proper TrainerRoad and Zwift integration [Feature Request]

I dont experience any serious Z drops, only short erg failures or power drops but no more than a couple of seconds not ruinning any workout or ride.

It might be due to running both at the same time and using ANT to connect with Z, and BT to connect with TR. I have a long USB cable that runs from my computer all the way down to where the ANT sensors are on the trainer, so in theory it should be a strong connection. But Iā€™ve had at least 3 episodes in the last year where the ANT connection to Z completely drops and will not come back.

Zwift dropouts are known and ongoing issueā€¦it has improved recently, but can definitely still occur.

IME, the best connection is usually through the AppleTV app, followed by an Apple mobile deviceā€¦with the worst usually being a PC.

But, as always, YMMVā€¦

Yes known issue for those using both like I do too and BT on TR with ant+ on Z.
Ant+ also has some bad moments if I pick that connectuion in TR so for me is more an ant+ issue overall than a Z or any platform issue.

I use ant+ for TrainerRoad and Bluetooth for Zwiftā€¦ and itā€™s only Zwift that ever drops :man_shrugging:t2:

Not trying to be rude here, but you just said you donā€™t experience serious drops with Zwift.

Yes I did and thats correct. Im not saying
Z hasnt connection problems but serious for me is loosing power for more than a couple of seconds having to bail out of the ride and reset the app etc. My power drops are never like that and no more than once in the same activity from time to time not every activity has those kind of drops. That for me is a minor issue not a big deal.
Even those are only felt on ant+ at least so far.

About Z drops. Today after 3h40 in my Z ride (doing the uber pretzel) I had 3 consecutive drops. First two only for a sec and the third a bit longer but nothing problematic. The good thing is that if id ride only a couple of hours I hadnt experienced those drops

Would this work on Edge which someone said is based on Chrome?

Works fine for me using edge :+1:

Its very disappointing. Looks like theyā€™ve misjudged a release date yet again. I wish Nate would just stop giving dates out.

Two days to go before the ā€˜deadline.ā€™

George or David could make a start on it today and have it done in plenty of time.

I connect Zwift to my PC using an ANT+ dongle and have never had dropoutsā€¦ I think I maybe used to occasionally using BT, but I canā€™t remember now.

I donā€™t even use Zwift, but the time this is taking doesnā€™t reflect very well on TRs capabilities.

Agreed. And theres been absolutely zero sign of either Nate or Jonathan on here for some time now.

Just out of curiosity, and without throwing fuel on the flames, butā€¦. How many of you on here are software engineers? I am, and know all too well how difficult some of these things can be. It is easy to say, just add a button that sends the workout to Zwift and then monitor Zwift for completed rides to see if it was the workout. Sounds easy, but I bet you it isnā€™t. Iā€™ve not looked at the Zwift APIā€™s to see just how easy it is, so Iā€™m just guessing itā€™s more difficult than people think

Yes, radio silence is annoying but Iā€™m sure theyā€™ll tell us when they have something to report

sure, but when one man operations like David with intervals.icu already have the integration active on their platforms, it does raise some questions

@hubcyclist One difference is that intervals.icu isnā€™t sending its own IP to another platform.

last i checked, workouts arenā€™t really IP lol if theyā€™re afraid zwift are gonna try to reverse engineer their ML maybe thatā€™s another matter but nothing is inherently special about individual workouts
