Does anyone own one?
With my quest for age group podium at unbound as I was off by 2 minutes last year, this looks like a worthy upgrade. Skin suit will hold water and cool me at the same time.

I do, came late so didn’t get a chance to use it last year though, have the Road Race Skinsuit 2.0 which worked well for me for a long day at Leadville. Biggest advantage is that it fits a 3L bladder which gives you more options in terms of carrying fluids if it’s a hot day, and easy to swap bladders in/out without needing multiple packs (which I still have anyways). Marginal gains - maybe?
I’m in for Unbound and Leadville this year - will be wearing it in both.
Last year for unbound i just ran the same pack but filled up at each stop. Figure this will be faster, but I will also bring 2 extra bladders and pre freeze them for a quick swap. I also run a big ice sock, figure his the skin suit will allow me to not run the big ice sock.
I think its a marginal gain, but also it makes it simple on the rider and people assisting
I plan to pick up one of the gravel skin suits in the next couple months. I have no need to pay extra for the aero ability in my regular trainer/outdoor riding daily gear. Having one suit relegated to racing only seems like a good option. The cost is pretty reasonable compared to buying the components separately.
Lastly, the white, freckly, skin cancer prone part of me is also very pleased that it has a UPF 50+ rating. I just wish they had a long sleeve version so I could minimize the need for sunscreen.
Any input on how well the white cleans off after a muddy race would also be appreciated. White is definitely better for heat management, but I also don’t want a kit that is going to get stained after some mud.
i have yet to figure out how to keep white stuff white from gravel
I have the white one, I was able to get stains from Leadville mostly out, but you will see them up close. The main trick is wash it as soon as possible after the race, stain treatments help but aren’t perfect.
At the end of the day though, I’m not going to cook myself in a black suit.
I def want white. doesnt look bad for being used
Thanks! What’s your height/weight/size, and how does it fit? I think I’m a medium at 5’9/160lbs.
I’m 5’9” and ~155 and bought a small…seems the right size, but I debated an XS. No way I would have gotten a Med.
I’m 5’11, 175. 42R for a jacket size, 32" jean size. I’m in a large. Snug race fit. Road Race 2.0 suit from this year:
The one “miss” on this suit is the lack of cargo pockets….kinda seems like that would have been a no-brainer…
Yeah, cargo pockets may not be “aero” when being used, but the convenience factor is worth the small penalty, IMO.
Happy to answer any questions you have about the suit or other kit options too!
We asked our sponsored riders on Felt Un1ted if they would like cargo pockets. It was a unanimous no as they wouldn’t use them in racing and there was an additional 2/3w penalty drag wise.
We made the rear pockets larger to allow for greater carrying capacity.
im going to run a large and i am a tad bigger then you
Think sausage casing
Yup…I get it. But pro racers aren’t always the best “use case” when determining features that general consumers want, also.
If they were available as an option, I would definitely drop a few extra $ / £ /€ for them.
I’m confused with terminology here…
@Power13 - what cargo pockets are you referring to, on the pants?
I couldn’t tell by the rule 28 website photos as to being really clear whether it has any pockets in the rear, under the hydration pack area (2 or 3 pockets). I could scour the internet more, but seems like it should be obvious. Maybe I overlooked this.
Cargo pockets would be the pockets you sometimes get on the legs.
The suit itself has two XL rear pockets on the back as well as the race number pockets.
Now I need the wife to approve the purchase.
Every time I make a request for purchase, the default response is, “Is there a discount code, because if there is, I’d rather you just buy it now than at full price later on…”
I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for a sale or discount code and then jump all over it!
I got mine on their Black Friday sale….wasn’t much, though, only 10%.
My guess is discounts will be hard to find on this for awhile.
