Not really. It was partly by chance. I just happened to be in my shop one day and they had them for sale near the register and I have no control. I hadn’t really considered aero bottles but heard good things so I took the chance. The Cannondale ones, although I never tried them, I had heard were finicky to use and didn’t work well with other regular bottles. Just by the eye test, the Trek ones are more narrow and fill the triangle better so I figured they’d be more aero.
I use these and have never ejected one but I can eject an elite bottle just by looking at it while sipping coffee. I’m already silly AF so I’m not too worried about that.
It wasn’t Dan, it was Aerocoach (Xavier) on Escape Collective.
To paraphrase from memory… aero bottles are only a small benefit vs round bottles. For the newer types from Trek etc that can also take a round bottle, the aero benefit is tiny. The aero benefit from Elite Chronos is bigger (but still not massive).
I’ve listened to a few lately - was this the EC one where he suggested more benefit of going one bottle and/ or smaller bottle, as being a bigger benefit?
