Setting a Base Period with new Plan Builder

Hey guys,

im a real fan of the new plan builder and how it automatically suggests certain volumes etc. but my problem is the following. if i make a plan for 1 year in advance and include races, the tool works as intended but i dont want to commit so far into the future and i prefer to do 2-3 month blocks.
but if i want to do a base build with the same tool it seems that i cant get it done. no matter what i choose (building endurance, building ftp, etc) i never get a base phase out of it. it is basically always some sort of general build. wouldnt it be more logical to get a base phase if i clearly state that i want to build endurance?

Hey there!

I’ll check in with the rest of the team to see if this is expected behavior with the new Plan Builder or if it’s something we need to fix.

In the meantime, if you want to start up with a Base plan, you can manually add the phase you’d like to follow to your TR Calendar.

In case you don’t know how to do so already, here’s how:

Go to the “Training Plans” tab:

Then you’ll see the Training Phases you can choose from:

Then, once you choose the Training Phase you’d like to do, click on “Schedule Plan:”

After that, the Training Phase you’ve chosen will be on your TR Calendar.

Hope that helps – feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you for your response.

Yeah i already know the option with manually adding the training phase. But i really hate the old approach with the volumes and plans and i really like how the new plan builder operates.

@Gufo I had a similar situation. I found two solutions.

  1. Use Plan Builder from the mobile app. It hasn’t been updated yet and I found I had greater control over my base phases.

  2. Create two separate plans - one for your first base/build and another that starts the next week for base/build/specialty/race(s).
