Sign up for 6 weeks?

Hello

Previous TR user but moved to Zwift as I preferred the racing options.

Zwift training plans and workouts seem to have taken a significant dip recently and the platform seems to be going downhill, hence I’m tempted back to TR.

I typically only train indoors during the winter months. I’m thinking about signing up for 6 weeks now, aiming to be going well outside in April.

Is TR the tool for the job or am I not likely to see the benefits from adaptive training plans etc?

Thanks

You can do TR workouts outside…

It sounds like you previously left TR because it wasn’t engaging enough for you, which is what made you gravitate towards Zwift. So unless something has changed and you now feel like you’ll find TR more engaging, I would go with a different platform that’s more similar to Zwift like MyWhoosh or Rouvy.

So I says choose the option that will get you to ride your bike the most.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about MyWhoosh or Rouvy. I don’t even know if they have training plans or workouts embedded into their programs or not.

I think the core platform without the adaptive/ML features is still worth it and frankly paying for two months and then cancelling is going to be pretty cost effective imho.

I tried to move to Zwift this winter after an accident last year and have really had trouble getting motivated to train when I don’t have a training plan mapped out.

Yes, you’re probably right. However Zwift is no longer giving me what I want. Typically I use zwift for a few workouts I enjoy, where I make the zwift window as small as possiblentonsee the power numbers and then I watch something else.

I feel I could be getting more with more/better structure.

Are you looking for durable improvement or just a short term fitness boost? If durable, you aren’t going to get much of anything from 6 weeks of TR (or any other training system for that matter). If you just want an immediate boost that won’t last, your best bet is to flog yourself with VO2 max workouts 2 to 4x a week - as much as you can handle

It’s super simple to build an extensive / intensive program for six weeks.

Phase 1 - extensive ftp or sweetspot - 90-95% of ftp - build out to 60+ minutes time in zone. (see the sweetspot and threshold progression topics)

Phase 2 - intensive - ftp or vo2 - shorter ftp intervals 100-105% - or do a vo2max progression - all out 3-4-5 minute intervals (see the vo2 progression topic)

Probably will sign up to give it a go.

Probably won’t come back to this forum.

Thanks for the replies that were helpful and not dismissive.
