Has anyone traveled with their bike with SRAM Transmission? I’m bringing my bike to NZ in a Pika Packworks EEP 29er softish case. I’ve traveled with my road bike in the past and removed rear derailleur as standard procedure.
Think it’s necessary to remove a Transmission rear derailleur considering that you can literally stand on one without issue? Don’t really want to remove the derailleur, place UDH to fit the axle, then have to re-torque it down to 35 Nm which would require a big torque wrench that I don’t want to travel with.
I flew with mine in an Evoc Pro bag and didn’t take it off. No issues.

Thanks all. I think I’m going to give it a shot. It’ll go in a foam bag that comes with the bike bag and then wrap the chain in bubble wrap and cardboard to minimize it from damaging anything.
Same here. A bunch of traveling with it since before it came out, in this same soft-ish case, but packed with a crapton of junk each time inside the case (not packing materials, but like bike pumps, helmet, cycling shoes, etc… all floating around). Zero issues. I think I’ve flown with it like 4-5 round trips now.
I’d agree, I wouldn’t remove it either. It’s sorta messy to re-attach if you remove it, as you have to re-align everything.

Thanks for the beta everyone. Gives me peace of mind. Now if only TSA wouldn’t lose my stuff…
Turned out my Pika Packworks EEP 29er bag couldn’t fit my medium Epic with derailleur in place. Removal and reinstalling the derailleur wasn’t too bad. Hard part is finding a torque wrench that’ll go up to 35 Nm. My brother had one that went to 24 Nm and just gave it an extra nudge for good measure. Worked a treat. Used the drive side 8 mm hex bolt and plastic spacer to capture the axle too.
