Tacx Flux & SRAM AXS road compatibility

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a new tt bike (Felt IA Advanced | Force Etap AXS) and I’m looking for options to use it on my trainer, a Tacx Flux (not Flux S nor Flux 2, just the “first Flux”).

The obvious option would be getting:

  • 135x10 thru axle
  • Tacx XD-R freehub body (I think it is the Type I for Flux)
  • SRAM XG-1270, 10-28t cassette

Since I will be using TrainerRoad for my indoor workouts, I was wondering if anyone has experience or just an opinion with the following cheaper alternative:

  • Purchasing a 12s NX eagle cassette (mtb cassette 11-50t)
  • Keeping the freehub body that comes with the trainer (it is compatible for sram nx cassettes)

Obviously, with this setup I need to be very careful with the gear selection (or simply ride in ERG mode all along on a selected gear and never shift)

I’d love to hear your thoughts

You can NOT mix the SRAM road AXS with any MTB AXS like you mention. The rollers on the flat top road chain are not compatible with anything other than the SRAM road AXS cassettes.

The cheapest option is to go for a Rival AXS 12-speed cassette. I reckon the 10-30-tooth cassette should fit.

The flattop chain, right? I guess I’ll have to cope with the full pack…
Thanks a lot, Chad!
