White and pink bikes. That’s one way to upsell you to the Pro.
I ordered the Expert in Silver/white. It looks like a bad version of the Sagan S-works SL6 and heavier on the silver but I still can’t wait to get my hands on it. R470 wheels are what keep the price down to the $5k mentioned.
The Pro is decent value if you want the wheels. Oh and the SRAM is a 1x.
ok my bro checked it out too. he said the wheels on the pro were definitely only cl and not clx.
I am sorry for little off-topic but I am asking from my work point of view (branding) - why everyone is so excited about new SL7 but no one bats an eye about new TCR or BMC. Are specialized so much better as a product or it is a brand popularity (availability in LBS or coverage in the media, popularity among other riders etc)?
Isn’t R470 a rim a lot of OEMs use rather than a wheel?
A Focus bike of mine came with R470 rims on Formula hubs with unknown spokes and they were terrible.
Always thought it bold of DT to work like that as their R470 ‘wheels’ are only as good as the weakest part of the build.
European info from my dealer:
Tarmac Expert Ultegra Di2 Silver/Black with alloy wheels: €5799
Tarmac Pro Disc Frameset (there is a white one with pearlescent branding, didn’t look at the other color) €2999
Tarmac Pro Ultegra Di2 with Roval CL Rapide wheels costs €7399, available in red or some kind of Blue fade colour.
There is also a Tarmac Expert Ultegra mechanical with Roval CL38 available in Silver/Black and another Red/Blue colourscheme but I forgot the exact price, I think it was €5499 but not sure about that one.
Then there is also a Tarmac Pro disc with Force Etap 1X with Roval CL Rapid wheels in white, didn’t look at the price of that one cause I’m not really into SRAM
Well, this is a Tarmac SL7 forum thread, what do you expect?
Yeah it is. Specialized has used them a lot on Sport and Comp models and some Expert models in the past. Even when built with a DT Swiss 350 hub they’re very affordable and a definite step down from the C 38s that were on the SL6.
Little surprised they would spec a Tarmac with 1x. Hard for me to see that as the right group on a true road bike.
Because Specialized Tarmacs are awesome bikes and something special about them personally. Others obviously agree and seems like you should buy one to see what all the fuss is about.
Ohs that’s why! I am talking by comparison not only this thread to other threads about bikes but also on other forums. But thanks.
So you’re saying that there will be a framset below S-Works that can be bought separately?
From my point of view I would say, specialized it’s a vgood brand, good quality bikes, they look nice and on top of that some other ppl think you gonna spend some money in a bike and mayb in 2 years you want to get the new one or mayb you just want to sell it and you know specialized it’s a brand you gonna put it into the market and you gonna get offers quick, mayb with a different brand isn’t that easy.
Yep!
Awesome, that’s pretty smart of them to have one below S-Works again. Especially since it might make people build more custom Specialized bikes
I forgot to mention that Specialized won’t sell complete Venge bikes anymore next year, only framesets!
So they are pretty much saying that the Tarmac is aero enough that only if you know that you specifically need the Venge, then you can buy it as a frameset…
Question is then, are they gonna have the Venge until next year and then make it obsolete…
Either way, I think that the new Tarmac is almost as aero as the Venge, but much lighter, so they are gonna push for the weight to aero advantage…
The only issue I have with the Tarmac is that it feels unbalanced compared to the Venge. They have the fatter tubes up front, but makes it skinnier in the back - resembling the same type of unbalance that the Scott Addict has… Front heavy…
Its very subtle, but tried to show what I mean below:
EDIT:
The more I look at the images, I realise that it might have to do with the fact that the Venge head tube is in line with the fork, which the head tube and fork of the Tarmac har on different “planes”.
S-Works: Fact 12r
Pro: Fact 10r
I would love to buy just a frame!
Black sworks frameset and dura ace.
I want tubeless compatible rims and dura ace. I can’t get the AXS road chains to stayed waxed.
