Tarmac SL7 Release date

Yeah, bike prices seem to have gone (more) crazy than usual over the last years. I remember when the first higher end bike I purchased was ultegra, full carbon and 4k cad, now the same spec line is easily 2-3k more. Honestly its not like it makes a performance difference anyways, but man that logo is worth it XD

It could be worse, feels like I’ve been priced out of the 2 year old car market. Insane prices for something that loses value so fast.

Supply chain is partly the issue but even when that’s fixed the prices are never going back down.

The prices are crazy but glad I bought my 2021 SL6 comp last year and then bought enve 5.6 to pair with it.

I am however still intrigued with buying a S-Works SL7 at some point. Selling my bike would fund a really good amount.

If you have stuff to transfer over I’m loving the SL7 comp rival with Rapide CLX wheels and red crank/cassette. This bike is tons of fun. Would love to try the Aethos, but too similar to this bike so n+1 would be a gravel/mtn bike like Diverge.

I would love to and am keeping my Enves no matter what. The SL7 wont be for at least a year for me as other things to buy instead. Plus my bike is so fun.

I did a 7 model year jump, and went from race endurance geo (non aero) to full race semi aero. Big change and maybe I’m a little over enthusiastic because it’s such a huge change. I ride with a guy from Italy that has an SL4, SL5, and SL6. He is going to buy an SL7 and start a museum :joy:

I found one of these bikes, might have to buy it for parts just to complete my build.

2022 is crazy

I’m so happy I got my SL7 expert at launch. $5,000 at the time and I’ve since spent $1600 on upgrading the wheels (Bontrager Aeolus Pro 51 for $1300) and handlebars (Roval Rapide Aero at $300)

Yes I’m on the “older” Ultegra Di2 but I love this bike and doubt I’ll upgrade for a few years at least.

Yep, wish I would have also. Glad you are enjoying it. What size are you on? Maybe I can buy it from you in a year or two!

Still awaiting a new set of hoops, but couldn’t wait trining the new frame out. Rides and looks lovely!

If I know you those new hoops are going to be even deeper!

If you ever want to make a specialized donation to me, I will gladly accept.
I’m trying not to be envious of your bike collection, but dang…you have either had every bike I wish I could buy, or well, yeah. HA!

I enjoy living through you!

I think Specialized should change their S-Works line name to “Envious”

Been kicking around buying an enve aero stem and ses aero bars to put on my SL6. Bought an Epic Evo this year which I love but want to do a few upgrades to my SL6.

Anyone else do this?

If you ever want to make a specialized donation to me, I will gladly accept.

I am already afraid they will release a new Epic or Venge successor soon. That would definitely force me to free up space in the stables.

The envy name is already taken by another expensive parts maker…

Yes, you are right. Totally missed that. Duh. Anyway, love your bikes. Enjoy.

So I’ve been riding my Tarmac SL7 Pro/Ultegra for about 9 months now and have a few questions for ofther folks riding them.

  1. Does the rubber seat clamp bolt cover constantly slide up your seatpost? How do you keep it down?

  2. My bike came with the Roval Rapide CL (51mm front/61mm rear). If I haven’t been on my bike for a few days - once I start rolling the spokes in the front wheel make pinging noises as my weight (170 lbs) adds tension to them. Is this standard for these deep dish carbon wheels?

I haven’t had either of those happen, though I’ve only had mine a month. I did have the front axle come out on a ride (!), which I’m hoping just means the shop hadn’t tightened it correctly.

Yes the cover moves around a bit, from time to time.

I bought Rapide CLX and don’t recall hearing the spokes making pinging noises (at +30lbs), but do have some vague memories of that on a similar wheelset (Enve 5.6). At this point if they did make noise, my brain is probably ignoring it unless they started doing it all the time.
