Starting this as an off-shoot of of the TrainerRoad Users Bikes thread … it’s the “off” season for most of us, racing is over (I have a complicated relationship with cyclocross) so I’m a little starved for content.
Here are the thread rules, should you choose to adhere to them:
Each post should be made up of the following:
The one bike, out of any bike in the world, that you would choose to arrive at your doorstep right now if you could snap your fingers and make it happen.
The make/model of said bike
A single photo of the bike in question.
What it should NOT include:
Component choices … group set, wheels, tires, etc., etc. … we will all assume you are going for the top end model (i.e. S-Works, et al)
Any discussion of whether you need it or can justify it.
Further discussion of whether you will actually ever buy one. If you buy one, please post it in the Trainer Road Users Bikes thread with pride
Discussion of FTP, Vo2, metabolic pathways or (for god’s sake) Zone-2
Other posts which are allowed:
or any other overtures of admiration for another user’s N+1 dream.
Multiple submissions. Hey, what you would snap your fingers for today, might not be what you’d snap your fingers for 6 months from now (or 6 days from now). Feel free to change your mind and report back.
I just did this last week and it turned out to be a barely used 2022 Checkpoint SL6 that the guy bought 3 months ago for commuting, and then his job moved. No Diverge or other gravel bikes on FB, you don’t get a lot of choices buying lightly used!
Gonna let the Tarmac take a rest over the winter, and ride thru the rain on this one. My body is already thanking me for the relaxed endurance geometry
Since it’s n+1 I’d go an e-MTB bike just for fun rather than another training/racing bike. I’m not sure I’d ever find the time to ride it given the time I put in on my gravel and xc bike + trainer workouts. It’d be cool to have one for offseason fun and recovery rides though.
I’m boring. I’d take the SL8. I’m currently on an S-Works SL6 and can’t bring myself to spend the eye watering amount on the SL8 that costs about twice what I spent on the 6.
