Thigh hurt everytime take day off cycling

I did lot of of my training in zone 2
But everytime i took a day off, the next day after the day off i can’t train for like 2-3 weeks because my thigh, hamstring are really hurt after a day off cycling. But if i did active recovery ride instead of taking a day off, my legs are okay

Does everyone know what to do? How to avoid it

Maybe a long slow spin cool down at less than zone 1 .

Thank you for the advice

I’ve experienced this kind of pattern for years. For me it could indicate an underlying muscle injury, but usually it’s just a trigger point within a muscle belly that shows itself when not loosened-up by daily exercise. Even though these pains show-up during rest, it indicates that rest was needed so that a mild injury doesn’t progress to interrupting my workouts. Regular self-message (foam rollers, message balls, etc) and occasional expert sports message usually do the trick. For me, where it hurts is not necessarily exactly where I find the tightened muscular band- it could be anywhere along a muscles or tendon. And aggressive message does not fix the problem faster. (Beware of worsening injuries with a “thumping” device).
This is just one reason why rest weeks are so important- to allow “the niggles” to show themselves, to give me time to coax those spots into relaxation, and to heal from more significant muscle damage.
It’s not usual to feel worse during the first half of a rest week.
