Not sure if someone mention this before in the thread but I’ll say this anyway…
There’s a log file in Zwift which is worth a look, shows whats been going on with drops etc. It’s surprising when you think you have a good connection and see lots of Network errors and ANT Receive fails…
Think you can find it in your Documents\Zwift\Logs folder, current one will be log.txt. This location does also keep a small archive of log files so you can compare to previous days and if turnign stuff off helps reduce the errors.
One final thing, instead of scrolling through the log you can drop your log file into zwiftalizer, the web based log analyser tool.
This gives:

I’ve started doing TR workouts while using Zwift, this is really the best of both worlds. I used my iPhone paired to my Kicker, then have my power meter and HR paired to Zwift. I’m finding the longer Z2 workouts to be much more interesting using both apps together. To avoid duplicate uploads I end the TR workout during the cooldown and discard it.
Also, the Kickr firmware updates have gotten power accuracy much better, I don’t find much disparity between the Kickr and my power meter in almost all zones.
I’m sure someone will be able to answer this quickly, not sure if it’s been already discussed here in my exact setup:
Since I recently got a new bike ( ), my old R5 is now stationary on the Wahoo but without the Garmin pedals.
So now the Kickr is my only Power meter available for indoor training.
I’d like to run Zwift on my Apple TV 4k, I also have the CABLE ANT+/BLE dongle thingy.
Trainerroad will be running on my iPad, connected to the Kickr via BLE.
Can I run both Zwift and TR simultaneously with just the Kickr core?
So Trainerroad needs to control the Kickr’s resistance, while Zwift should read the power so I can play.
In Zwift, pair the Kickr as a power and cadence source, leave the controllable trainer empty. Zwift will receive the power data but won’t interfere with the TR trainer control.
I run a similar set up using BLE for Apple TV but not controlling the trainer (TACX Neo 2T) and an TrainerRoad from ANT+ dongle adapter on my iPad. To keep it simple I run an older ANT+ only Garmin HR monitor to TR and a BLE HR monitor to Zwift. I turn off BLE on the iPad. I have tried various combinations including throwing my Vector 3s’ into the mix but had more success with my “simplified” set up.
I have a similar setup using a MacBook Pro to run both Zwift and TrainerRoad. For me, Bluetooth to the MacBook has the fewest dropouts / is the strongest signal so I pair to Zwift using Ant+ and TR using BLE. Below is my equipment.
Trainer: Kickr Core
Cadence: Wahoo cadence sensor
HRM: Sosche Rhythm+ or Wahoo Tickr X (old one, not the one released this week) - only one at a time
I have also gotten into the habit of using a Garmin Edge to dual record, mostly because I have it and it wasn’t getting used. Plus is gives respiration rate data based on slight variations in heart rate - I find all that stuff intriguing.
Anyway, point is, it can be done, but BLE or Ant+ likely will have fewer dropouts for you. Figure out which one is stronger, and pair that to the program you can about more - TR or Zwift.
I could connect the Kickr Core only to either Zwift on Apple TV OR Trainerroad on iPad. Once it was connected to one of them, the other device couldn’t find the Kickr Core.
I was able to connect my Garmin Cadence sensor with the CABLE, but somehow wasn’t able to have the cadence displayed within TR on iPad.
Kickr Core doesn’t seem to transmit the Cadence, but it should, right?
Hope someone can help me to get my setup running on both devices / Software at the same time
Is your Firmware on the Kickr Core up to date? Wahoo pushed out a firmware update about 8 months ago that added cadence and multi-channel Bluetooth to the Kickr Core. DC Rainmaker did an article on it. Perhaps try updating your firmware through the Wahoo app and trying again to link the code to the two devices again.
I first connected the Kickr Core to Zwift on the ATV4k, then to TR on the iPad.
Worked fine, started the workout, all good.
After about 10 minutes or so the Apple TV just lost connection to the Kickr and couldn’t reconnect to it again.
I restarted Zwift on the ATV, but that didn’t help either.
Yup, after some trial and error that’s also been what I’ve found to be most stable. Fire up the iPad TR app first and connect to the trainer with BT. Then fire up the Zwift PC app second and connect with ANT+ (remembering to unpair the Trainer Control connection, so that only TR is actually controlling resistance). Seems to be pretty foolproof, run a bunch of sessions like that with no issues.
I was having good success with both running on my 2018 iMac, TR via BLE and Zwift via ANT+. Recently, TR’s power control via PowerMatch with my Vector 3s gets “wavy” whenever I do that, even when I unpair everything else to the computer. I haven’t been able to figure out why, but I’ve reverted to TR via BLE on iPad or iPhone and Zwift on the iMac via ANT and it’s running cleanly again… and it’s frankly easier to setup that way too so long as I let Zwift load and pair first.
The only thing I don’t like is now I don’t get the workout text on the Zwift screen anymore.
I user TR and Zwift just using Bluetooth, but have to use my MacBook to do it and NOT iPad or iPhone.
Load TR on the laptop as normal and it connects to your devices, then turn on Zwift. You can share Bluetooth connections between apps, so Zwift pics up cadence, wahoo Tickr And Kickr too but I unpair the box that says controllable. If Zwift doesn’t pick up the devices I click on the Bluetooth symbol in the top right hand corner of the MacBook and click disconnect on each device, Zwift then finds them.
If you minimise the Tr app in the bottom right corner it goes to the bottom of the screen and then the text appears across Zwift.
Yup, you have to make sure the bottom right square (controllable trainer I think) is deselected, else Zwift and TR fight for control of the trainer. Ive been doing this for almost 2 years now with no issues (as long as I dont forget! )
I am looking into this. I don’t want to use a laptop. I have an iPad I use for Trainerroad and an AppleTV. Is the CABLE option the best bet for this? CABLE with the iPad and Zwift via AppleTV?
