I have my “A” race for the season in 2 weeks - a 70.3 distance triathlon. I have followed the entire Trainer Road sequence of plans to target this race, so I’m at the tail end of the Specialty Phase.
After this event, I plan on doing only sprint distance triathlons for the rest of the season, which ends around September/October in my area. Frequency will be around 1 sprint triathlon per month, and the bike legs will be no longer than 15 miles.
The question is: what training plan should I follow after my 70.3? As I’ll be doing sprint triathlons on a ~monthly basis, I’m not sure what to do since the Trainer Road plans are geared towards building to a single event, months in advance. Thanks for any help.
After finishing your Specialty plan on the day of your A race, you’ll want to do a “maintenance” plan for the rest of the season. It sounds like you have a race a month for the next 5-6 months, so you have plenty of time to re-build. Usually we’d recommend just repeating weeks 7-8 of your Specialty plan to maintain fitness, but you can jump back into the Sprint Tri Build plan and Sprint Tri Specialty phase afterward as you make your way through the season.
