Alright, received mine today and just installed it. Main takeaways from installing it for my 2021 Emonda SL:
The non-drive side adaptor is completely identical to the one I bought from @Luis_Goncalves on Ebay
The drive side is a lot more tapered in - hopefully I didn’t do any damage to my bike in the interim, but it looks fine
I put some grease on both parts for the drive side adaptor, as the old drive-side thru adaptor had almost fused on to the axle lock nut
The bike is a lot easier to get settled on the trainer with the new parts installed and seems to pivot a little more freely.
I’ll probably not have a chance to ride before I head off on vacation, but happy to report the parts seem to work/fit and mean I shouldn’t have any issues going forward.
So I waited for the new adapters so I could use my 21 Emonda SLR and just learned they do not work with Sram. I tried to get them to fit and work properly and when I had no luck I reached out to Wahoo which confirmed Shimano Campy only.
I’m thinking Tacx Neo 2T or just get a Wahoo Bike and end the craziness
July 21 Wahoo site update for new adapter shows “not compatible with Sram XDR only for Shimano Campy”
The spacing seemed way off and I was unable to shift in 2 small cogs and it over shifted in largest cog. If I make adjustments I will still not run clean up and down cassette and im unable to use all 12 speeds.
Email back from Wahoo confirms new adapter is for Shimano/Campy only. Sram 12sp adapter will b eavailable in a few months. Sounds like Trek needs to approve fit as well as Wahoo
Hello. So w/ your SRAM Emonda, you could get it mounted in the trainer w/ the new adapters, but just the shifting was off? So in theory, if I was using the trainer in ERG mode and only used one or 2 of the rear gears, it would be ok? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
You will need the new new adapter from Wahoo for Trek. The 1st new set won’t work so don’t even bother. You will damage your frame. Email wahoo and see if the have any available.
You can use it with the risk of crushing the dropouts. Just get the new Trek adapter set and the new new Trek adapter and it should work 100%. I was so frustrated with it I ended up with a Wahoo Bike. I know what you are saying when talking about erg but imo the bike just doesn’t fit well enough to take the risk.
Thank you and sorry for so many questions here. So just to clarify by what you mean w/ the “new” adapter set. Are you referring the the set that was just released in July or another “new” set forthcoming?
After waiting months for the Kickr adapters to use with my 2021 Emonda SL7 eTap, I was pretty dismayed to find that they explicitly don’t support SRAM Emonda’s with their new adapters. So, I’m back to wondering if the solution here is to do the milling down of the original adapter. Anyone with a long term update on their original milled down adapters that can comment? Thanks!
I don’t have one. I’m trying to figure out if I can get one to work with my setup before purchasing it. If anyone with XDR is still rocking their original milled/filed down adapters without issue please let us know!
I’m Trying to use my kickr '17 Gen 3 with my Trek Emonda 2021.
Wahoo was really quick in shipping the updated adaptors to me for free.
However, the Frame simply sits way to close to the cassette and chain doesn’t fit on the smallest gear. i had to adjust the limit screws significantly to make sure the chain can’t drop in the smallest gear and ruin my frame. from the pictures it is pretty clear that the updated drive side parts (parts 2 and 3) are simply to short.
I hope wahoo comes with a proper solution and have faith they will.
Hi. I just bought Kickr Core and luckily discovered incompatibility issues before mounting my Domane.
I saw that the easy fix is removing 6 mm of material from 142/148 mm adapter but my question is if anything should be done also to driveside adapter? Replacement set has both parts different than original ones and I wonder if grinding one adapter is enough to solve problem.
