What are you watching on long indoor sessions? Movies?

I did the first 4 months of this year using the free TACX software, and since April on TR. I guess I am just getting to the point where I am losing motivation sitting indoors now the weather is warming in Australia. What do you do to keep up the motivation? Any suggestions?

This thread might be helpful.

I have a YouTube subscription to avoid ads. My cardio playlist has about 220 videos I’ve watched all of. About 80% gravel race videos. VC Adventure, Goettl Media, Lifetime Grand Prix, tons of great divide race documentaries, etc.

I’m having to add new ones before every ride and running so will be following!

If the weather is warm enough why aren’t you riding outdoors?

I am currently watching the 8.5 hour Lex Fridman podcast in which he talks with a number of people about Neuralink. That technology and its implications is quite something.

Fridman has quite a few guests that I find interesting.

YouTube: GTN, GCN, Joe Skipper, Lionel Sanders, Lucy Charles Barclay, Ironman Pro Series, etc.

Have you tried TRs outdoor workouts?

See What do you do for entertainment while on the trainer?

Yeah, movies. The harder I ride the stupider the movie has to be.

Listen to music a lot on the trainer for workouts.

I’d only ever really watch something if it was a long z2 ride on the trainer which I don’t do many. I used to love the GCN racing app for that.

Last winter I started to read during my endurance trainer rides (or the extra Z2 tacked onto the end). I found it to be a good low excitement activity that made the time go by surprisingly fast. It was annoying to find a way to keep the pages open and to flip the pages while riding though. So I’m sure some kind of e-reader would be the way to go if I was so inclined.

For some, it’s lack of rideable roads near their home at 5:30 a.m. I live in the middle of a suburban neighborhood and a 20-25 mile morning ride would be stop & go circles around blocks in the neighborhood. I get out for about 1/2 my weekend long rides, but still drive 20 minutes to get to an area that I’d want to ride 60-70 miles.

Music and old MTB replays if doing anything threshold or harder.

But thanks to some steep discounts right now on streaming platforms (paramount is 50% off; peacock is $2.99 a month for teachers) I am going back and watching old shows again: Cheers, Mash, Star Trek (TGN…Strange New Worlds is new but is fantastic), Colombo, etc.

Also get HBO Max with my internet so going through old series I never watched. Into True Detective which is kind of heavy for anything more than mindless light endurance.

There’s some good suggestions already.

Just thought that my preference is for watching older movies with the subtitles on, and maybe the directors commentary to give a new perspective on familiar films.

Other than that, some of those long box sets like The Wire, Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones. Whatever takes your fancy.

I have lost faith in Lex. But thanks

Indoor is more effective. I ride the long rides outside

i do similar. paid for no ads and I created a “Workout” playlist for myself. i will add videos to it during the week for channels i’m subscribed to that I find interesting and fun / funny and entertaining - but not something I need to take notes on / dense.

as of now i’ve been outside mostly so my list is growing and growing…but when i hop on my bike indoors i don’t have to think about it.

i like layne norton and renessaince periodization…they are nutrition and lifting advice but done in a light and entertaining fashion…but you still learn a lot or reinforce things. so i just subscribe and add them when they pop up. jesse coyle has some cool bike videos. trainerroad is obv awesome but i just listen to those immediately in my car - but that would be a great one if you don’t listen. they have years of incredible content.

90’s music videos…and sometimes concerts. Also those from the 80’s and early 00’s. I like listening to music and the visualization is enough to keep me distracted…or maybe focused. Not sure which one

I will do movies and TV shows as long as it’s is relatively upbeat/fast paced and I don’t have to think too much. When Hamilton came to Disney+ in 2020 I think I watched some or all of it about 20 times or so while doing indoor rides

This is my scenario. During the week it’s trainer rides. Weekends I can drive 30-40 minutes to do road or gravel. I can do a ride from my house on weekends but it’s not my favorite
