Where did you ride OUTSIDE today? (2019 & 2020)

It’s a cross bike made by LIV and it’s the Bravia model. She loves it :+1:

Grade 62.1% is my rock climbing 5.8

3 hour mixed bag. First real outside ride since 2018 (FTW?! :exploding_head: ). Had to dodge a LOT of sun seeking self-isolation busters. Felt sooooper good to smash out some powah…even though a 9v battery has more power than I do. Still managed to bag a 9th :trophy: in the local Covid KOMpetition.

Rode some local gravel yesterday. My goal was to try to snag a KOM on a 39 mile out and back stretch. Kept my power pegged at about 210 watts for 2 hours 10 mins which was enough to get it and a few other top 10s. Really hard effort and something I couldn’t have done even a few months ago.

Should have been in Mid-Wales for a three day bikepacking event (it was a public holiday on Friday here in the UK) but the lockdown put paid to that. The format was for the organiser to give you about twenty grid references (map locations) that you would visit over the weekend.

Someone came up with the idea of us providing grid refs around each other’s homes to visit, hopefully choosing ones that we might not have visited before. My wife and I got sent ten (plus the comedy one in the middle of the sea!) so went out in the sunshine to pick up three of them.

We’ll visit another three locations today then complete the set on Sunday.

70 miles on gravel. Snow above 8500 feet meant an earlier than planned turnaround. As much as I like my Domane, it’s not forgiving enough on gravel for my 25-years-of-rugby beat up body. Warbird or Diverge… I need to get off the pot and buy one

Yesterdays beautiful ride around the North Cotswolds. Another beautiful day to be the owner of a bike :+1:

100km fasted Z2 ride.

Regarding social distancing protocols, locally we are now allowed gatherings of 6…pretty sure 95% of people heard “GO WILD THIS WEEKEND!!!” :man_facepalming:

The mixed-use paths were so scary…more than usual. All the lycra clad pro wannabe bike riders really give cyclists a bad name.

All that, and a nice little bonk 20min from home.

What a difference a day makes. Early start to beat the worse of the weather that has been forecast. Definitely a morning to keep an eye out for gaps in the hedgerows and gates!!

New 3-6s and 5min PRs! :trophy: :exploding_head:

Looks like all that unstructured training is really paying off!

Great day riding Upcountry…followed by post-ride refuel of fried Spam and Eggs

After a Kaweah beat down in the dungeon yesterday, it was time for a ride at my favorite local trail system in western Massachusetts. It’s been damn cold & windy this spring, today was mid 50’s with gusts to 25mph or so. Enough already!! Some mid 80’s with a fair bit humidity would be much appreciated.

one of Sydney’s best rides, it was a tough day in the saddle esp with no drafting!

2.5hrs of mixed stuff. My first real effort at structured outside intervals (vs just hamming up the hills).
6x10min @ 97%/3min off around my local “speed loop” (no stop signs!). I thought my pacing was atrocious, and it probably was, but the data said I did ok (1.01 VI). A bunch of Z2 to finish the ride. It’s 10 degrees cooler today than it was on the weekend, definite shock to the system! I even unwittingly grabbed a KOM 9th place cup! Yeah…I’ll be back with the crown next week.

Had a dope moment, second half was a forced endurance ride. Would have rather been stuck in the big ring. All my mech friends are all like “Di2 sucks, this wouldn’t happen with mechanical” to which I remind them that if their shift cable breaks, 9/10 times it’s the rear, which would leave them with two even more useless gears since they’d be stuck in the small cog and left to choose between big or small chainring

Didn’t follow up with the next two days of our little adventure.

Part of the weekend we missed was bivvying wherever you could find somewhere to camp. With the lockdown that had to be at home in your garden/yard. Thus Friday night was my first ever night in a hammock. I’d strung it up between a couple of our apple trees and the blossom was quite heady. My hammock’s a bit short for me so it wasn’t uninterrupted sleep.

Saturday was hot and humid. Three more locations to visit.

What did the Romans ever do for us? Roads that are still pretty decent after 2000 years.

More moorland riding

This one’s a running joke amongst the forum members where this challenge originated. For US readers, think 7-11

That was Saturday. This time my wife took the hammock and I got the tarp on the lawn. Sunday couldn’t have been more different, a drop of about 15C overnight and a strong wind. Back into full (UK) winter riding kit.

First location today was the Hope factory …

Then along one of our old industrial canals to a moat. I’d no idea this was here and still haven’t found out what it was for, just looks like a silted up pond!

Finally heading home but a big hill in the way with the final two locations. Through the woods to a reservoir

Then to the top of the hill. The wind was so strong my bike was being blown around on the ground! A bit different from when we’d come up here on Thursday night.

Only about 120km but a fun weekend following what someone else thinks might be interesting in our area.
