Does anyone know which head units offer powermatch? I know Garmin doesn’t. Any idea whether Wahoo does or any other brands?
Idk about the head units, but using a wahoo kickr etc. when using the wahoo app, you can control your kickr using any ant+ power source
I could have sworn that back when I originally did this with my old kickr snap, the powermatch feature continued to work on other head units, as essentially the kickr itself connected to the power meter and did the powermatch on board, but ma having a hard time confirming it with any available info online, so I don’t want to misinform about that
My Kickr 2017 direct drive experience is that you set “control with ANT+ power meter” in Wahoo app. It didn’t work reliably with TrainerRoad and I contacted Wahoo support, they explained it was only supported while using Wahoo app.
I had a similar experience and the synchronisation was not great. The TR experience is the best I’ve used and the only time I use this type of thing. If you are not comparing numbers with other people and your trainer is consistent does it really matter?
I forgot to mention I have a Tacx neo 1. I think I’ll stick with the TR app. I was just hoping to use my phone for other things that’s all.
This is more in line with my expectation with what I read now, it seemed to work for me a few years ago but no official support.
Too bad!
At least the app is free, nonhead unit required
That’s too bad, I don’t know of another solution ( other than running on a pc, which I have found decently stable ) I too like to use my phone for other things
Garmin might not do power match but you can still record power from a power meter whilst controlling resistance with the trainer - at least your recorded numbers would be consistent.
^ that’s what I do now and it’s more road like than Erg.
