World Class Norwegian triathletes using Traineroad

Screenshot from YouTube of Kristian and Gustav doing some testing with TrainerRoad. Serious numbers. :joy:

Wasnā€™t this on a treadmill?

Hard to tell. I saw the TR app a few times. The editing in that screengrab makes it difficult to know for certain.

Looked like cycling to meā€¦

Yes. Thereā€™s another clip where heā€™s running. Coach says we canā€™t show numbers. Then they cut to TrainerRoad screen. So a little confusing as to whether that specific clip was running or cycling.

On another note, what workout is that?

I guess I was hypoxic at the time.

I believe it was the Blu VO2max run test.

Mentioned on the ā€œHow they trainā€ podcast. I watched the video yesterday.

VO2max of 102 - 104 by the way depending on if he is at his PTO website weight or reported weight else where, either way over 100 if you believe the video and podcast.

There were other clips in the series showing them on bikes with TR in the background. Someone above showed screenshots. So I guess for both!

Yes but the clip / mentioned in question was definitely and the run VO2max.

Interesting the bike one, a year before VO2max reported at 85 for Blummenfelt. To be honest imo its all smoke and mirrors, although he had been long course training. Training for the 2024 Olympics run test VO2max 100+.

I find it hard to believe, but this was after short course training, so slightly easier to believable, but maybe just to get in competitors heads.

Isnā€™t the highest ever recorded vo2 max something like 95/97? Seems doubtful to me that he would have a recording of 104.

Yes.

Hence the ā€œWe cant publish this commentā€ Olav Aleksander Bu

Will edit after eatingā€¦

So, the ā€œwe canā€™t publish thisā€, meant we need to check [these results] (the cart.)

Which was done, and to be honest unless I missed it, it was not categorically confirmed there was no issues, just implied.

More, that the process was followed, checks etc and nothing was found to disprove the calibration and working of the equipment, if a skeptic, interestingly, Olav Aleksander Bu said all this equipment can be flooded.

Im not sure he believes the result even though there was no obvious fault which the equipment.

fwiw Olav said the heart shrinks and vo2 max goes down with long course trainingā€¦In the Rich Roll podcast I think.

Which is what I said, implied, however, the difference seems extreme, hence my comment. He also said we need to decrease VO2MAX for the Olympics (something lost in translation maybe), less oxygen, more efficient / pace per oxygen used in general makes sense, less heat (energy costs)?. Not sure if that is smoke and mirrors or a genuine comment. However definitely playing the game with competitors. Plus the whole series was, 90% plus, plugging sponsors. Who knows what the truth is.

Doesnā€™t make sense to me tbh

There was recently an article in Norwegian media about him where they discussed his VO2max. According to that one he measured 7.7 l/min which Bu equated to 103 ml/min/kg at race weight, but it was 96 at current weight. Blummenfelt himself speculated that his VO2max might decrease with a decrease in weight keeping him arround 96.

:face_with_monocle: 96

What theā€¦

Pto website weight is 75kg other media 74kg, 77kg Super leagueā€¦ highest I can see reported is 78kg how did he get to 96?

96 ml/min/kg.

Ahā€¦ sorry, I was being dim there, I thought you were saying he was 96kg for a second

No worries. The article claimed he was 2 kg from race weight, so you should have enough to calculate it.
