If you had the option to buy a new XC bike and money or supply wasn’t in the equation, which one would it be?

This looked pretty interesting.
One of the 120mm travel XC bikes that doesn’t need a lock out but still has a heap of capability. Running carbon wheels with an Onyx or Psylence XTR rear hub, XTR chain, chainring, cassette, but AXS shifter, derailleur and dropper with Zirbel type set up to replace the remotes.
I always dreamed of a Cannondale Scalpel with Lefty fork, from when I first started riding bikes and the Lefty was equal parts hideous and amazing. Cannondale Scalpel SE with 120mm Lefty Ocho would be pretty sweet.
But, off the shelf, I guess probably Santa Cruz TR as I’ve heard great things about the bike and really impressive things about their post purchase customer support.
The one I now have after a 14 month wait! (A Pivot Mach4SL with Live Valve).
In fairness I’d love a set of carbon wheels and some slightly wider tyres, bit I’m happy enough with it as it is.
I was going to say the Mach 4 SL. Some LiveValve would be amazing!
I have the non live valve version. Built it with a set of Roval Control SL wheels and I can say, the bike comes alive with carbon wheels.
I’d love to try live valve, but didn’t want to pay that much.

With what Pivot have learned with the new Trail429 as far as frame build, I suspect the updated Mach4SL should be lighter and even better than the current.
At least that is what I am hoping. Some of the things they have updated on the new LES SL should make its way over as well.

Unno Horn maybe? If money & availability is no object then I’d try something a bit exotic like that.
I like the gloss paint on the new models.
Love it. Both yours and Humps are great looking bikes!!
Anything with livevalve. Haven’t tried it yet, but it stands to be worth more speed especially in long races, than just about any other component.
I predict we see full suspension gravel bikes with livevalve or similar systems in less than 3 yrs. I hope so.
The Mach 4 was ahead of it’s time in many ways. I hope the next iteration is 120/120, but I very much hope they don’t do a “Trek” and try and jump the field to ~66° HTA.
I haven’t seen 120mm LiveValve, but I hope it’s coming and becoming more affordable.
I think they have a great platform, and I also hope they keep the geometry close to what they have now. This bike loves to slice and dice, and where I live, that what I like.
When I’m on my 429, I can still do the trails, but making the turns takes a more labored approach than with the Mach4SL

I think if I had to go with another option than my Pivots, I’d probably try to get a Blur
Hump
Blur TR (FTFY )
I have the ‘22 Blur TR , so that probably leaves me with the Ibis Exie as my alternative…
Maybe the Epic EVO, but the stand over height seemed really tall from the dimensions listed on the website…
Just throw more exotic parts at it . Berd wheels, DangerHolm bar and stem .
Good point. My bike is currently a mix of components: I currently have Shimano 11-speed XT on it. XTR pedals, a carbon bar, and XT cranks (all as of tomorrow)…
Nice! May I ask why the 11-speed? Just because it’s what you had? Or Di2? Or preference?
