Xert Adaptive Training now includes Outdoor Rides

  • I appreciate the thoughts and consideration.

Generally speaking, TR is open to discussion of all training platforms here in the TR forum. They have never stated anything specifically to me about what is and is not really “acceptable” here. That said, I feel it’s important to consider that dividing line ourselves.

  • Discussion of features, pros/cons and the sort of comparisons like we see between things like bikes, head units and other related tech make perfect sense to me (Just like this topic started on, related to a new Xert feature and how it relates/compares to TR). I think TR can benefit from these comparisons and consider if they should impact their direction and choices.

  • And for the types of discussion where someone values a feature in a different app, but wants something like that in TR, using the “feature-request” Tag in the “TrainerRoad Software” category is likely best. It can be discussed by all here and monitored by TR. That is the best tool we have for impacting the direction of TR outside of direct emails to their support path.

  • Deeper discussion about other apps, actual use, function bordering on real “tech support” and such should probably move over to the appropriate channels for that app. All the ones I have seen mentioned (including Xert) have their own forums, tech support sites, FB groups and the like.

    • I will be honest, when I read the suggestion that people should setup an Xert support thread on the TR forum because the Xert one was not great… I found it funny and flattering at the same time :stuck_out_tongue:
  • But seriously, the real deal support & discussion is best directed to the resources & services provided by the app developer IMO.

@teddygram and @mcneese.chad

All valid points and I’ll re-enforce that by stating that Armando himself have posted in other threads.

Chad’s last point resumes my thoughts.

Yeah, and I pulled back hard to not tell people to head over to the ICU forum for that level of discussion in those topics. ICU has a great forum (using the same Discourse base as here) and it gets tended well based on my own time spent there discussion some ICU topics.

Trust me, hard lines would be great (and welcomed from a moderator standpoint), but general discussion can evolve into details that are best handled elsewhere. Finding that critical moment is fleeting and if I jump in right when I see it, I get the “over moderation” sticker applied sometimes. So I don’t often mention anything about it unless it’s quite obvious.

Case in point, I said nothing here until someone else brought it up… even though I recognized an issue well up the thread. If it’s not clear from my comments above, I struggle with when hand how to handle this stuff all the time. I try to do the “less is more” approach these days, and I still mess up more often than I would like despite that goal.

I can’t speak to the new update, but I tried pretty consciously to get into it, and I found the UI and resulting UX to be unfathomable and completely put me off the whole process. Happy to hear they refreshed their interface; I have no doubt that their UX has steered people away in the past.
