Zwift Play Controller

Not right now. Guessing that option and others will come after they finish their “paid beta” phase.

SO my buddy gave me his Play controllers today on our Friday coffee ride…gonna check them out this weekend to see if they work with my Campag shifters.

But from a construction / layout perspective at least, I’m impressed with them.

Just realized that they might not work well with the SB20 because of the buttons on the drop bars:

I guess I’ll see when I get them on Monday, maybe it won’t be too bad to just put them below the buttons.

I think you’ll be OK…just put this on my gravel bike for reference. The inside of the hood is completely accessible.

Although the controllers on these bars have a bit of a downward angle due to the flair of my bars (ENVE Aero Road).

Ordered them! Should arrive today. Super excited! The button for a Ride On bomb probably my favorite. Hahaha.

No kidding. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve messed up my Companion app map trying to drop thumbz. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

On that note, if anyone wants an Elite Sterzo… you pay shipping, I’ll send it.

Right? So true.

Maybe a dumb question, but is there something in Zwift that you would need brakes for? Is it completely for something in the future?

Are we going to start flying off of Alpe du Zwift on the downhills if we don’t brake?

Not a dumb question. It’s for the future. Coming zoon.

It would be perfect if they had a full Xbox/PS layout with analog sticks. Obviously they’re only trying to encourage more people to use Zwift, but I would buy a set in an instant if it meant a more ergonomic way to play video games while on a trainer

Currently I sometimes wish I had brakes in 2 situations 1) when coming up on a group or ending up near the front and I’d like to slow down to stay in the draft and the main one 2) when I’m doing repeat intervals on the same climb and I’d like to slow down on the way down so that I can be at my preferred u-turn/restart spot at the right recovery time to start the next interval.

Put the on the trainer bike with the Campag shifters….the thumb shifters still work OK, but it is a stretch to reach the inside controller buttons (green button / left arrow) with my thumb. If I do a split-finger grip over the hoods, I can reach those buttons with my index finger OK.

No ride yet…will test later this weekend.

Oh, I meant the two shifter buttons on the drops themselves, unfortunately they get in the way of the rubber band, so I had to attach them way low:

I can’t really reach the controllers from the hoods, but they’re still reachable from the tops at least. Weirdly, if I attach the controllers on the opposite sides, they’re usable from the hoods, but then steering is backwards. Hopefully they add some way to remap them somehow.

Ooh, I think I got it:

There’s like the smallest amount of clearance to place the rubber band over the buttons without it pressing them, but I got the controllers where they need to be:

I’m military and stationed in Okinawa Japan with very limited opportunities to race so I’m stuck doing most of it on Zwift. I went ahead and jumped on getting a set of these to hopefully get Zwift a little closer to simulating the real thing. At 100 bucks I figure it’s worth a shot.

Did a very short ride this evening with the Play controllers on my Campag trainer bike….with them as high up as possible, I could reach the two inward buttons with my thumbs, but it was awkward.

I lowered them a bit and will see how they work tomorrow when I do my workout.

Did a quick run on Repack Ridge….vs. the Sterzo Smart option, the steering is vastly improved. Way too short a time to really get used to it, but big step forward.
