After using TR within Zwift for the past few weeks, I had a question on how the two systems interact. There are times where I’m feeling good and when using only TR, I would up the intensity a few % for a harder workout. TR and Adaptive training would take this into account for future workouts. Does TR know when I up the intensity of the workout within Zwift (adding % to workout difficulty) and make the adjustments on TR’s end when the ride is over? I have a feeling that they do not but I wanted to check with others.
My guess would be that TR would be taking it into account if you increase the workout bias in Zwift, as all of the data is fed back to TR in a format that seems to treat the Zwift workout as though it was done in TR. (TR even recognizes workouts done in Zwift as counting toward the 10 TR workouts that need to be completed in order for AI FTP to be activated.)
So I’d think that if you increase the bias in Zwift, the higher wattage, TSS, and IF, along with your RPE answer) would be fed back to TR and figure into any adaptations needed (including possible yellow or red days).
Hey there and welcome to the TR community!
As @NigelTufnel11 said, TR will indeed be able to see if you increase/decrease the intensity during your ride – even if done on Zwift.
You’ll mainly see adaptations from that through Red Light Green Light. It’s also good to fill out your Post-Workout Surveys, which allow you to tell TR if your workout was easy or hard. Your feedback from those surveys may also trigger future adaptations based on how you were feeling.
Hope that helps you out – feel free to let us know if you have any additional questions!
