Based on various positive comments here, reddit and weight weenies I got a pair of elite wheels. Light, aero, cross wind resistant and durable according various people poster on these forums
Maybe hit up @teddygram. He put together a really nice set of Nexties with Dt240 hubs for me. I got deeper wheels that what you’re looking for so they’re just over your weight goals, but they are super nice and incredible quick! They had lighter smaller option available. Good price too!
Syncros Capital SL wheels are 1290g for a pair of the 60mm deep rims or 1170g for a pair of the 40mm deep rims
Cadex Ultra 50 is close at 1349g for a 50mm deep rim. The slightly shallower Max 40 is 1249g
Priceton Peak 4550 Evolution with Tactic Racing TR01 hubs: 1275g
For something cheaper…depending on how you feel about Chinese wheels the CRW works wheels from Panda Podium are very light. For example a 50mm front/55mm rear comes in at 1290g while the 40mm front/45mm is 1180g
Depending on what configuration you want Nextie has lots of options. Here is what a 44/54mm wheelset with 24 carbon bladed spokes (not 20) and a 24 IW rim. This is as close to your mentioned above wheelset that I could calculate.

There are tons and tons of options and if you went with a round vs bladed carbon spoke it drops a lot of weight. The mentioned wheelset also includes the hole/less tubless ready rim bed.
It’s really what someone or a consumer is comfortable with. I find a lot of people are not comfortable with a China based company and manufacture.
A lot of rims/wheels are made in China (Nextie happens to be a OEM) and are used under many different branded names. There are still other manufactures that make product in the USA (Enve and HED) but you pay a premium for them.
At the end of the day some consumers want to deal with a company that has a US base service team and can spin off marketing for why you would use there products and that is perfectly fine.
Nextie offers competitive warranty’s similar to all the big western brand names and has IMO wheelsets that are currently generation ahead in technology.
They are already using wider rims and have been for a while, they have holeless/boreless rims for easy tubless setups and they have a lot of experience already with carbon spokes with plenty of options.
There is a lot of testing they do with carbon layup, Nextie’s big break through was MTB rims and Fat bike rims and they have pursued that passion in all of the other categories.
The AGX gravel rims are now almost 4 years old and are pretty phenomenal. A lot of other brand names are stating to use similar shapes and specs but still lack all the other goods mentioned above.
They just have either a great engineering team or access to great engineers and make good decisions on product offerings.
Which wheels are best for me?
If you like to use wider tires (28mm and above) with lower pressures, we recommend the CS5060 wheels. If you run 25mm tires we recommend the CS4045 or CS5055 wheels depending on whether you want to be optimised for weight or aerodynamics respectively.
