Do excess Carbs ingested during a low intensity e.g. Z2/1 get turned to fat when ingested during a ride?

I’m basically referring to “unused” carbs assuming I’m always in Z2 and drink a sports drink, do those carbs just get stored in the same way they would as if I was sitting on a sofa?

You’d have to take in a fair amount to stimulate de novo lipogenesis. More than likely CHO substrate would be utilized preferentially over stored lipids.

Of course, depends on how long the ride is, the intensity and how much CHO is ingested!
