I can tell you for sure the MTB sets come with tape and Reserve fillmore valves. Not sure about the road wheels.

Would this group consider 20% off list for a new model bike a good deal?

Depends on the bike. But if it is a current model with the latest generation of parts, 20% is pretty good.

deleted, as the eBay seller looks to be selling fake Fillmore valves.

I have a genuine set (worldwide cyclery or somewhere), a set in an open package (can’t remember where they came from, or if it was open when I got it), and a eBay set (which I had on Friday, but cannot for the life of me remember where I put them over the weekend. In the middle of a bike re-build, so stuff everywhere).

I’ll take another look at the eBay ones once I find them.

Those appear to be counterfeit valves. There are no wrench flats, or the wrench flats are the wrong size.

Here is a picture from a review on the Aliexpress listing of these counterfeit valves. This is the actual valve received from the Aliexpress sale.

The picture in the listing is a stolen photo of real valves:

Just found my eBay valves. I believe you that they’re fake. When I got them, I couldn’t find fake ones, so figured they must be real. I now remember that I opened a genuine pack to compare to. The eBay ones I have at home also have the flat though. I will look more closely later, but I can’t immediately see any differences. Maybe in the artificial light at my desk, the fake ones have slightly more red silicone, but hard to say.

I believe what you’re saying, but don’t see the difference in the two pics. Can you clarify how you can tell a real from a fake?

Measuring my eBay ones, the differences in flat width and overall length are within what you’d expect from a supplier (9.93, 9.97, 9,97 and 10.01mm for the flat, the length was I think around 46mm with about 0.2mm difference. And I was just using calipers by hand, which is not the ideal way to measure). For my two genuine sets the packaging is noticeably different in shade of brown (the eBay and Aliexpress ones don’t come packaged). So I would say either 1) one set sat in the sun at the shop, or 2) Santa Cruz changed supplier or uses a supplier with poor color quality control (and having worked in china, and having our product packaged, I can attest that getting two batches of packaging the same Pantone is hard there). If they changed suppliers, then it’s conceivable that there’ll be more variation between older and newer valves (dimensions included)

I’m going to order an Aliexpress set to see. I’m really intrigued by all the fake stuff around at the moment. Chains, brake pads, SPD pedals, I believe tires and other stuff too. It’s made shopping outside of known retailers to be a bit of a roll of the dice.

I bought a pair of Ultegra pedals on Amazon at a price I should have known was too good to be true, but I did not know were fake when I purchased. They lasted about 50 rides before I tried to go for a ride and could not clip in. Upon examination, there is a pin that holds the rear of the pedal (the part that flexes and has an adjustment screw) that had pushed out of the pedal about 10mm. I assume this pin holds that rear part in place. I had to bin them. I went back into Amazon to look at the reviews, and there were several people whose pedals had broken and were accusing the seller of selling fakes. They even came in what appears to be identical Shimano packaging.

You find the price?

Yup, I got fake Ultegra pedals off eBay a few years ago. Very convincing fakes, the visual differences were very subtle. Came with equally convincing packaging.

I’d only buy Chinese brand stuff off Aliexpress.

Is there a history of Zwift offering annual discounts of any kind?

Zwift annual subs haven’t existed for long. They came out around Christmas last year.

I’ve meant if they have a history of any discounts, for example black friday or some other occasions?

I can’t remember any in the last 7 years I’ve used it.

Probikesupply.com is having a flash sale. So you’re in the market for the new SRAM Red stuff, you can get it for 15% off.

Yeah, I’ve been on Zwift since 2017 and I’ve never seen any kind of discount or promotional pricing. The annual rate is the first such that I know of.

Big Wahoo sale on trainers, computers, PM pedals etc:

Sadly the new rechargeable TICKR is not included, I have one and would’ve picked up another, it’s been great.

Regarding the Rechargeable TICKR – what’s so good about it?

It fits better than the previous gen TICKRs and has been super reliable with zero dropouts, interference etc., unlike either previous TICKRs or Garmin units.
