Green Bananas, seriously?

Since the texture and taste of green bananas is closer to that of parrafin wax than it is to anything edible, I see the connection already.

We should have frictionfacts do a banana chain test and see if potassium>parafin, and what color banana provides the most watt savings

PS. This is quickly becoming my favorite thread on this site

As if this whole talk of eating unripe bananas wasn’t disgusting enough, we now have a thread on dirty cycling kits. Ouch.

i grew up on them… eating them more often than not (mostly boiled)

The fried variant are really yummy…and easy to make. My go to snack while i eat are plantain chips. They have sweet ones, salty ones, etc etc

(also to clarify, @Jonathan we still love you, if we leave bananas out of it) LOL

I agree. Do you think his comments about thin mints mitigate or worsen his behavior?

A long time ago I watched a documentary that had something to do with Truckers in Africa… they had some problems with the axle of one of the trailers and I shityounot they just shoved a bunch of bananas in there as lubricant.

Yeah I had a colleague from Rwanda once. He brought some back from his vacation at home. We tossed them on the barbecue. Was pretty nice. As I said, it reminded me more of potato than banana and I definitely like potatoes.

Anyone who’s ever played Mario Kart understands the extraordinary potential bananas have to lubricate.

Peeled or non peeled (meaning cooked with the peel on or not!?)

I’ve actually never tried that and i’ve been playing around with my weber kettle these past few weeks

We putt them on the barbecue with the peel. Once they are done, peel them and then deliciousness.
Edit: we may have peeled them slightly to prevent explosion. Can’t remember exactly, it’s a few years ago already

I’ve done baked sweet potato breakfast bowls…

  • baked sweet potato
  • blue berries
  • Sun flour seed / Pumpkin seed mix
-Touch of honey and/or small pat of butter

First hint of brown spots = optimal pre-workout.
More brown spots = optimal immediately post-workout.
Yellow = optimal any time outside of training.
Brown = most optimal intra-workout… but logistical nightmare & weird outside of a smoothie or banana bread.
Hint of green = No thanks. I’ll eat a slice of dry bread instead.

Ideal territory here. Not starchy, not overly sweet.

Different glycemic index depending on the ripeness. Lower GI when green, higher when ripe I believe.

Green bananas? Yellow? No, it’s a false choice – there is no banana:

Ah yes the bananapocalypse. I say just bring back the gros Michel (gmo edition). And maybe dial back the humongous monocultures.

Buy green, eat yellow, stick brown in a cupboard to ripen for bananabread,

Since we can’t decide on bananas let’s see how wrong @Jonathan is on peanut butter.

Smooth or (real PB) Crunchy

I vote for crunchy! But most importantly let’s agree that only 100% peanuts is peanut butter. Not this crazy half peanut half, sugar kinda deal.
