no, have you considered contacting the HH support / forum
yes their reply doesn’t fill me with hope though
So how did the explain the issue that you had
Awaiting a response!!
Out of curiosity, during the timeframe (large stretch of road), are there actually power/HR/etc data points?
I only ask because I’ve managed (a few times) to actually pause the Karoo without realizing it. Your specific ‘drop’ almost look more like a pause/resume. And if looking at the ‘extra’ data (HR/cadence/power), if that’s there, then it’s clearly a GPS dropout. But if it’s not, then that would imply the file was paused. Note that a paused Karoo will still show data on the screens.
I have had my Karoo 2 for a few days.
Good stuff:
- Screen is great. Fast interface
- Smooth Maps and navigation
Areas for Improvement:
- connections to Trainerroad and Garmin Connect would be great. TR and Hammerhead need to just get this done
- TR workouts in Karoo are important for me
- Workout profiles should control settings like auto-pause, GPS on and off, BT on and off
- Bluetooth livetrack connection to Phone as per Garmin (instead of SIM card or Wifi tethering)
- Add battery discharge time to interface (instead of just %)
Yes I appear to have speed and HR during the whole ride. I also ran out of battery on my P1 pedals so had the red warning at the top for low battery.
I don’t recall pausing or indeed unpausing the device at all!
How you do you accidentally pause it? We did stop for a nature break and my bike was laid down in some grass for a few minutes???
You press the start stop button, it then changes the options to continue / finish, but the screen remains tge same, usually it shows a red bar at the top saying “this ride isn’t being recorded”, or auto pause is yellow , missed the start of my ride couple of weeks ago, even though there was a red bar at the top of the screen … it wasn’t until I noticed the miles not going up that I noticed the red bar !!!
Had mine for about a month now, and I recognise that there are a few issues, I am far happier with it than I was with my Garmin 820, yesterday it was just brilliant, followed a route from a friend, some of the roads were full of crud and I didn;t want to ride them, road closures and a flood, and the HH just handled it, not “recalculating” and having to wait by the side of the road, no drama, just worked, brilliant
Interesting, speed would be dependent on GPS. So, to ask a bit more detailed question - does the total ride time correspond with how long the ride should actually be? Meaning, if you were riding 90 mins, does your ride show 90 mins, or something shorter?
As for pausing, as @WombleHunter noted - it’s by pressing the stop/start button accidentally (when perhaps you mean to change data pages), and then not realizing it.
Ok so you may be onto something here Ray!! looking on my phone it looked ok, but showing timeline in Strava on a desktop is a lot more telling sadly!
I wonder if I accidentally pressed pause then, and the red line I assumed was just the Powertap P1 battery warning… I don’t remember pressing “unpause” though! I did tap the red warning at the top which took it off screen, could that also unpause?
Yup indeed. Sadly (or not, I suppose), that chart would pretty clearly show a pause in the workout time. :-/
But hey, at least the GPS isn’t bad!
So I just tried pressing pause at home, I get a flashing yellow bar at the top, I wonder if the P1 low battery warning “hid” that whilst I rode and thus I missed it
Shame Strava snap has gone away as I think I did a decent time up one of our bigger Yorkshire hills, which of course was in the “paused” section
Hmm latest from support, suggesting a bug
I compared the GPX file with the FIT file and now I understand what exactly you are talking about. The issue that you have faced is related to the inaccurate GPS data recorded and not related to the pause. The team is actively investigating the issue and we expect to make improvements in the near term.
I am also curious to know if this portion of the Route includes dense forest, or tall buildings, or is it a remote area to see if this is contributing factor.
For those with Karoo 2s
- have the latest updates improved the sensor pairing / staying paired?
- During setup, do you have to manually type in your WiFi password? Or is there another way to give the Karoo the WiFi password? I run really loooong WiFi passwords, so manually typing them in on devices is a PITA
- And if you use the quarter-turn / Garmin mount adapter, how secure is this?
- Yes
- Yes you have to type it
- Rock solid
Thanks. Ugh on typing in the WiFi password directly
How many times would you need to type it in though? Only once I would think.
I would recommend the HH I tried all the main competitors and ended up returning them. In my opinion the HH is streets ahead. After sales has also been great (mount parts).
I’ve owned the K2 since early July and since then had to re-type my password twice or three times. Don’t know how it managed to log itself off the wi-fit but other than that it’s been absolutely flawless.
My main grip with it is that a route cannot be reversed whilst riding or on the unit itself. Has to be done on the dashboard. Went for a loop the other day with a mate and it constantly buzzed me to turn around and recalibrated the route accordingly. I hope it’s something they’ll address in upcoming releases.
Edit: lost an end cap during a ride, for the USB-C socket. Can those be purchased separately?
When I contacted them re a bolt for the mount they just sent one immediately. In fact they sent a new kit. Email them.
Say when you say reverse a loop, do you mean before you start it?
