Let's see your paincave!

Do you just have two of those mounts on the floor?

Oh sorry I have that mount for the lower tv and the upper tv is mounted to the wall with a regular wall mount.

Also I have a relatively cheap pc I built for Zwift connected to both of them so the TVs are just one big monitor which is handy for Zwift, TrainerRoad and watching content through a web browser. It’s pretty slick

Finally back in a “cave” again!

For the past 6 years bike/trainer has been stuck in this room, and for the past ~20 months has been the guest room for a grandma staying to help us with our daughter so no real training going on.

Won’t even show where the weights were because I decided for safety it wasn’t worth trying to workout, so I haven’t done more than 3-4 days of strength training in the last 6 years.

We had some amazing addition plans for our old house, including ~400 sqft clear span basement with 9 foot ceilings, I was quite excited to get going on a new pain cave…

And we couldn’t secure a builder, plus some other issues with the house (~200 years old) and area we lived now that we had a kid and we decided to move.

Room for a gym was on the need list and we closed/moved in about a month ago. This past weekend we were finally setup/moved in enough in the other areas I was told I could spend some time on the gym. Previous owners put down some laminate in the basement so first task was my helper and I cleaned it before I pulled it up in the gym area.

And then I got the flooring in, weight rack assembled, and bike setup.

Unfortunately sitting up on bike on trainer I have about 3.75" above my head, need to upgrade to a wheel off. There is also a significant slope to the floor and 2 doors so I was kind of locked into this orientation since it gives me the least left to right slope for the weight rack for safety/balance. Need to level out trainer before I can do a ride.

Old weight storage doesn’t work in this room so need to figure out another solution, should have room for a treadmill when we finally get a new one. Going to take this opportunity to upgrade the old 1080/32" to a 4k/40" so entertainment not mounted yet. Planning some floating shelves next to the bike for bottles/remotes and some sort of flip up/down solution to hold laptop for TR, old computer stand would sit too close to weight rack.

Excuse the length, quite excited to get back to being able to train!

Prior iteration at it’s peak.

Current iteration, work in progress/cleaning out the garage to build out a home gym and trainer area as well as home office area as we’ve got twins on the way so the pain cave is needed as a bedroom…

@TexanDad What is the wire shelf in the top picture with clothes and bottles? I’m looking for something like this.

Amazon Basics

Can I ask what stand you are using for the 2 TVs? Looks great!! Is the bottom TV with TR connected to the iPad? Thanks!

Home Depot HDX or something similar. My wife and I use these nearly everywhere and have had some since we first got married more than 20 years ago. They’re nearly indestructible and some of the larger ones can hold up to 2000 lbs.

If you have a costco they sell the same thing for $30

It holds a lot, think it was 80 bucks or so.

Here is the lower stand

The upper tv is mounted to the wall

They are both hooked up to a PC and act as multiple monitors so in this case I have the PC app for TR open and a browser for the video on the upper tv

I haven’t settled on my current location in this flat, but this was very effective tonight. I probably won’t do this in the longer term, but upstairs is still unsold as is all but one apartment over the road with a large gap between us. So I felt good to set up in the front hall with the front door open. Not surprisingly it was a lot cooler there and it didn’t actually feel too loud in the big ring in this building.

nice bike and set-up @tmw444 :+1: - quick question - do you use ERG or Resistance mode in TR workouts?
I use Resistance exclusively myself but over the past few weeks have been noticing this weird “ERG-effect” where (for the first minute or so) it feels like the TR app. is trying to select the right gear/resistance for me.
Then recently, when doing 30sec intervals, after I dropped 2 gears at the end of the interval, the resistance stuck at the same value/gear for about 2 secs before dropping off - you seen anything similar by chance?
Thanks!

I use erg mode and find TR the best for erg on the sb20, tried a few other apps and none of them feel as good in erg mode as it does in TR

Tonight’s pain room. The towel was pulled back like that so I could access the fan remote control. I didn’t think I’d need it but from 0deg C at the weekend its now 10deg C and I was sheltered from any wind, so on the final few intervals it was up to full blast!

I’ve got the very same fan - have mine on a shelf in front of the bike, works really well, remote control is very handy

Reorganized my little pain corner in my home office a bit today, pretty happy with my setup right now:

Now if I could just fit a swim trainer in here somehow…
