Huh, I did not know this. I had fun at the Luton TT and Custer’s last stand in 2024. 2025 I thought about Yankee and the early Custer Race just for fun before the Lumberjack this year.

Dustbowl upped their slots to 1200 and still sold out in 4 days.

Dust Bowl is a terrific race with a lot of community support. I did it last year and signed up for the 100K this year.
Does anyone know if the Karst Crusher in Nashville, IN is being held again? That was also a fun event.

I did Karst Crusher 2 years ago and flatted right when we hit the single track and fumbled my CO2….day over.
But I was very impressed by the event overall.
Done Dustbowl twice and was supposed to do it last year, but ended up with a conflict. I e-mailed Marc to let him know he could let in someone off the Waitlist. He responded and comped my entry for this year, unrequested. Class move and totally unnecessary.
Bringing a bunch of guys down from Chicago again this year.

Right now, the list is Lutsen 99er, Ore to Shore Hard Rock 48, Cheq 40, and Iceman. I am still not 100% sure if I am going to do Lutsen again after last year’s debacle. If I see a drop of rain in the forecast anywhere in the 2 weeks leading up to it, I am bailing on it. I’ll probably throw in a few WORS races along the way.

I’m registered for the full Birkie/SRAM Epic in Cable, WI as my “A” race. Not sure if I can make the logistics work with family, but also considering the Copper Harbor Trails Fest XC race in late August.
Will probably hit 3 or 4 of the MN MTB Series races in the sport class: Rochester, Woolly, and Border Crossing are the most likely.
I can’t bring myself to register for Lutsen (any distance). I just don’t enjoy riding in the wet. But I do hope to get up there and ride Jackpot/High Climber.

I’ll be doing a weird mix of gravel, XC, and gravity racing this year.
Lutsen 99er, Driftless Gravel, Heywood, Gravel Worlds Lincoln, 1-2 MN MTB series, Duluth Bike Fest, and the Thursday night XC series at Buck Hill.

I feel like dust bowl is the best ran event I have ever been to. For me it sits at the top of the list and I compare other races to dust bowl to determine if they are worth going to.

Ha, even if it doesn’t rain for weeks before Lutsen it will still be muddy with puddles everywhere. That event is cursed in my opinion.

I was a little surprised about the percentage of people in Ohio that don’t realize they are in the Midwest. Must be the Steelers fans. If Ohio isn’t careful, the Midwest will trade Ohio for Oklahoma and a state to be named later.

At least in MN, a few years ago, there was an effort by a small group of people to consider ourselves as belonging to a new region- “the North”… that might explain the 3% of people in Minnesota. Maybe some in Iowa felt the same.
