New TR Feature.... What is @Nate Testing Out šŸ¤”

I kinda give up now :joy:

So Iā€™m gonna assume if X person selects do X workout outside somehow gets synced to a garmin? And youā€™d have to select this prior to doing the workout in order to get it on garminā€¦ Iā€™m not familiar with Garmin IQ tbh (stuck using the 920)

Edit: Or maybe your entire TR calendar gets synced to Garmin connect :exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head:

Iā€™m sure weā€™ll find out when Nate gets back from Mexico. Theyā€™ve been hush hush about this up until a week ago when they started teasing it pretty heavy.

Yeah the above thread seems to have nothing to do with actual computer integrationā€¦
And the strava screenshots point towards them carrying out the text based system thing, if I had to guess

Which is great because itā€™s universally compatible. They have also mentioned in the past few months (I canā€™t find it now) that they have no intention of building a TR app for connectIQ, so make of that what you will.

I for one would be happy with instructions that I can tape to my stem or top tube.

Not related to the inside/outside aspect, itā€™d be kind of cool to have a Garmin Connect IQ app to actually run a TR workout inside using FE-C. Would lose a lot relative to the bigger screen options, but could be handy sometimes!

Whatever it is, podcast episode 200 seems like a perfect time to announce it.

I may have to take a leap of faith and just get a headunit, my pioneer head unit (which saves data logs as db files and not a standard fit or gpx or whatever) is having the data tied up in analysis with the cyclo-sphere service that the data gets fed to. So I have very little access to my 3.5hr ride from yesterday (I got the power data extracted using a sqlite db viewer and am using excel to analyze, but itā€™s obviously a pain!).

Hereā€™s another one:

If TR could push to ANY GPS device I would drop what I have and buy that device.

Same here. I have the original 520 and have been thinking about getting the 520 plus. Not going to make a move though until I know what TR is doing here.

Also, want to see if something new gets announced at Sea Otter in a few weeks.

Did anyone hear the latest DCRainmaker / GPLama podcast where Ray said TR will be at the Garmin IQ conference? I donā€™t know who attends the Garmin IQ conference, but based on what Ray said and Iā€™ve heard before about the conference, seems like an unlikely venue to be unless youā€™re developing for G-IQā€¦

This would be cool. I still write my stuff down on the stem and just pay attention to the time and power numbers. But, Iā€™d be into thisa

Iā€™ve also heard that the outdoor workouts automatically apply the brakes and hold the bike in ERG mode. Well maybe not but if it did I would consider going back to Garmin. Made the switch from Garmin to Wahoo and wouldnā€™t look back.

I heard him say that as well and had the exact same thought.

Listened to the podcast and Ray said ā€œthat in the PAST trainerroad, Sufferest etcā€ had all gone to the Garmin IQ conference, not that they were going this year.

Correct. Guessing whatever they are working on started some time ago so if they went last year or previous years that would make sense.

@Harts, thatā€™s a fair and accurate correction. As @shawrx points out, it would be wise for TR to have attended the event in the past and expected as we have heard Nate reference road maps and long-range planning. We know TR isnā€™t (yet) fully integrated into the Garmin ecosystem (example A: needing to capture the TR session on a Garmin watch otherwise the workout isnā€™t included in the training status) and doing so opens additional features (example B: running a TR workout from your Garmin x20 or watch while outdoors).

How has no one started a poll on the next feature?

From a Wahoo email this afternoon. New integration from third party apps. Just sayinā€¦
