I opted for -1. Fireworks were tough. Had fun with Honey Stingers and GU.

I’m taking the same approach - 22nd will be my last day of training before a week off - might as well sign off in style!

Very spicy! No one on the Discord group was brave enough to try it on the TT bike, so extra kudos to you!

Awesome job!
I/we need to get better about using IG to show off Disaster week stuff! Fancy being the social media guru next time ‘round?!

Done!

Will there be a T-shirt for sale this year? do I have to figure it out myself?

You’re all completely nuts! Fair play to each and every one of you :+1:

Unfortunately we haven’t had the time to sort one out for this year.

However, anyone with some graphic design skills would be welcome to make a tshirt and put it up! We usually have the money raised go to World Bicycle Relief, but with the current situation, other suggestions welcome!

Not the perfect outcom but I managed to nut through to the end. I had a really tough time in Fireworks, but carried on with the sprints and just kept it at Endurance rather than SS so I could finish off the ride in full. (realised at the end that my FTP was still set at 272 rather than my ‘new’ 260! so that didn’t help)

First time doing such a long ride either on a trainer or outside so fuelling was a first also. Felt great during and afterwards with the exception of the Fireworks section so I’m happy with that. Consumed 75g carbs per hour with homemade Malto/Fructose/ecectrolyte mix 800ml @ 66%/33%/1%, (Thanks TR forum) some nut bars and Soreen. plus a further 2 litres of water. Finished it all off with a 30 minute brick run on the treadmill.

No cramps or pain during the ride in my legs but my shoulders did start to ache towards 3hr+. Not sure I will be attempting Disaster again anytime soon though. It was a tough onefor sure

Awesome work! Welcome to the club!

And don’t worry; you won’t need to do it again until next year.

Just took a look at ‘All Rides’ for the full Disaster and looks like there were only 12 of us who completed it so far this weekend (Fri/Sat). Surprised that there were so few as I had thought it was a bigger (unofficial) event. Looks like there were dozens last year.

I didn’t realise you could do that. That is a nice feature. Handy for comparing your old rides.

Did Disaster -2 yesterday. Wasn’t as hard as I was afraid of, kind of regret not doing the -1 instead. Maybe next year.

This year was a smaller event, it’s true. We also shifted a bit to allow some flexibility. So some people chose to do a different ride that challenged them.

If you check the -1 and -2 versions, the numbers will go up for Disaster riders.

We also had people (crazy people) who did Rockhouse instead - another epic workout that’s now been determined to be “Harder than the full Disaster.”

Had a go at the full Disaster. Got to the VO2max intervals and knew I wasn’t going to be able to complete, my legs just lit up within 15 seconds. I couldn’t even hold the SS power level for the fireworks section. Decided just to ride out to the three hour mark. My longest trainer ride by far, the previous longest was an endurance session of two hours.

I’d done Kaweah on Friday and think the effects of that were still in my legs as those threshold intervals felt tough.

Ate pretty well and used homemade carb drink (2.25L) but my legs were the weak point.
