Training Experience with TrainerRoad in Zwift
There are two ways to get a TrainerRoad workout to show up in Zwift.
- You can let TrainerRoad create a training plan for you, and your scheduled workouts will show up in Zwift every day you have one scheduled.
- If you don’t have a training plan on your calendar, TrainerRoad will automatically send an AI-recommended workout to the “For You” section of Zwift every day. These workouts will be based on TrainerRoad’s analysis of your recent training to make sure you get the right workout to make you faster, or an easier workout when you need it.
When you click on the workout in the “For You” section of Zwift, Zwift will show you a preview of the workout then let you select a route.
After this you will be in-game and once you start pedaling, your workout will start.
The workout structure can be seen on the left of the screen, and you can see your current power target, current power, and interval time remaining in the top center of the screen.
If you want to see a complete visualization of the workout structure, you can use the Zwift Companion App and navigate to the Workout tab.
Zwift will default to ERG mode that will match your power targets, not the terrain. If you don’t want to use ERG mode, you can change to Incline Mode (like Resistance Mode). This will make it so the trainer has a set level of resistance and you can shift and adjust cadence to hit power targets.
Once your workout is complete, you will get a post-workout survey asking you how hard that workout felt. It uses a 1-10 scale, so while the options are different from what you see in TrainerRoad, the concept is the same. Simply rate how hard that effort felt.
After that, your workout and post-workout survey data will be sent back over to TrainerRoad. Easy!
