To answer on topic: Yesterday I had a “Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Märzen”. I’m sure the name alone will make you americans happy . But it was good as well. Malty, with a hint of caramel… nice.
IT’S AUGUST!!! Let’s not rush Fall anymore than we have to, please! (And the same for all the damn pumpkin spice crap coming out!!)
Why is Oktoberfest mostly in September?
My understanding is that Oktoberfest (the actual fest in Munich) always ends the first weekend in October…and over the years they have extended the length of it, so it now ends up beginning in September.

That bit may not relate to that particular beer, it’s part of a ‘festival’ and is tagged to all the guest ales:

And here I thought water, hops, malt, and yeast were all meat products!
The finings could be animal based. Often gelatin and isinglass. Same with wine.
No picture, but I had a Weyerbacher Merry Monk the other day that I thought was fantastic. I always like to try something new at the new bars I visit (usually find the new brs to visit on Bars in London – Nicelocal.co.uk ) Taking that, along with how much I enjoyed the Weyerbacher Pumkin Ale, I think I’m going to have to check out some more stuff from those guys.
Had this a few days ago, really delicious, recently canned. I live in NYC but I grew up in Melbourne so I had to give this wombat a chance.
